    Hi there!

I'd really appreciate some advice from anyone who has been to Warsaw, Krakow or Bratislava.

I am travelling there at the end of March for 7 nights. What are the best places to see, hotels to stay in, and the best pubs and clubs!

    Any recommendations would be great!

Also, I'm planning on taking an overnight train from Krakow to Bratislava. But I havent been able to find any prices on the web for the train. Has anyone taken this train and know around how much would I be looking at?

    Thanks! *;)

    Hi
I have been to Warsaw not the other two, best thing to do in warsaw is to get the half day tour and that will show you all the sites, you can normally book these trough your hotel, we stayed at the Radisson hotel and it was great, eating out is very cheap and plenty of choice so just have a wander around, everything is within walking distance and if you get lost just keep going you will eventually get back where you started. One good tip is it will be very cold but wear plenty of layers as opposed to the big wool jumper as when you go into restaurants bars etc you will pass out with the heat, and wear thermal socks as your feet will be frozen, may not be so cold in March though, if you go to www.inyourpocket.com it gives you plently of ideas and tips

    enjoy

I've been to Bratislava-its only 40 miles from Vienna from where I took a daytrip.
Very very oldy worldy former communist type place is Bratislava.
Twas like being in an episode of the six million dollar man

As Bratislava is so near Vienna, twud be a good idea to take a trip up there too-great city and lively at night.

Make sure you got to the remains of Piawick prison in Warsaw.

Bratislava is a top place for a session. :D

As another poster pointed out, make your way to Vienna as well. Beautiful place.

Don't think Krakow and Bratislava are that far apart for an overnight train, but I could be wrong.

Thanks so much for all of the replies - they were really helpful - especially www.inyourpocket.com

Does anyone else have any recommendations on hotels or apartments to stay in?
I was thinking of the Hetman Hotel in Warsaw, as I'm getting a good deal there, has anyone stayed there?
Then in Krakow and Bratislava I'm hoping to stay in apartments or hotels in the Old Town.

Let me know what you think of the place that you stayed in.

    thanks!

I was in Warsaw and Krakow at the start of Nov last year. Had a brilliant time.

We flew into Warsaw and out of Krakow , 2 nights in each place.

In Warsaw we stayed in Radisson hotel which was within about 15 mins walk from most attractions, a lovely hotel and the added bonus was leisure centre with swimming pool. More or less a business hotel but we really liked it. Oh and one of the best breakfasts I've seen ! definitely enough to keep you going until an early dinner.

In Krakow we stayed in Alexander hotel. This was a very basic hotel, nothing special but the price relflected this. The breakfast wasn't great. Staff were very helpful. The best part about this was the location - less than 5 mins walk from the main square.
If you had a bigger budget for Krakow the Radisson there also looked lovely and had a great location.

Alexander hotel was only 115 for two people for two nights.
Radisson was dearer at 215 for two people for two nights but then there wasn't any comparison between the two for accomodation, facilities, food etc.
We booked through www.hotelspoland.com and had no problems at all - found them the cheapest for the hotels we were booking.

We had a week in Krakow in November 04.

We stayed here - good quality and cheaper than the hotels - > http://www.affinityflats.com/ Mariska was very helpful. We even got our apartment upgraded as they needed the cheaper one for a bigger group.

Krakow is great for wandering around.

Auschwitz is haunting and an hour away.

An overnight trip to Zakopane (a mountain village / town) is well worth it. If you go to the tourist office in Zakopane you can book accomodation there. It is usually an extension to someone's house but a beautiful area.

We weren't to enamoured with Warsaw but loved Krakow.
