I'm sending a letter to a mate who lives in Firhouse. If I put the address as Firhouse, tallaght, dublin 24 will it still get there ok? Just delayed or whatever.

As long as you have the street adress and house number too, then that's fine. If not, you haven't a hope - Firhouse is a big place.

I know the address, just want to slap in the tallaght part to take the piss.

Is it super furry? That's the argument I always use but I'm just winding him up and I don't really know. I went out with a chick once who lived in Bayside. She always said her address was bayside, sutton. She would go mad when I'd ask her why she put sutton on her address when she lived in bayside.

Yeah, it is. It's just petty snobbiness really that has people pretending it isn't. Christ knows why though, there are much nicer areas in Tallaght than Firhouse. Belgard and Kingswood for example. You look up any official building there - like a school and the adress is Firhouse, Tallaght.

    Finish it with:

    Pram Springs,
    Tallafornia
    Dublin 24

I grew up in Bayside, and although I never referred to it as Sutton, alot of addresses such as the doctors and pub specify Sutton. I'm not sure if they're just being snobby or Bayside actually is considered Sutton.

Nah Dr. Loon, it's not sutton. A doctor's surgery using the name Sutton just draws more patients. If anything it's actually Kilbarrick as it was addressed as Kilbarrick before any houses were built there. I know a chick who lives across the road from Kilbarrick Dart station and she says she lives in Raheny.

I live in Kingswood. It's grand.
**** all yas posho idiots slaggin' the Tallaght area.
Go back to your ''Goldenville'' with liquid gold coming outta your taps and your butler by your side...
Also, parts of the lower Kingswood area are technically in Clondalkin...cause when my Mom and Dad got the official address when they got our house it said we were in Clondalkin. And I've got an old map somewhere which says the part of Kingswood I'm in is in Clondalkin...But I dunno...:p

the reason is when firhouse was being built they sold it as being in templogue just like knocklyon (the snobs couldnt stand being associated with tallaght despite being right next to it, why do you think knocklyon has the only letter area code in the country dublin 6w:D ) so they absolutly positively WERNT in tallaght.
till the houses were built and sold and the post office told em otherwise:D the snobs went absolultely mental which amused my arse no end, now not only where they in tallaght they were further up the mountain than me:D

this sort of crap is STILL going on. there was a development about a year ago that tried to sell itself as swords road malahide, when its actually malahide road swords. whats the point i here you cry? about 100grand on the house apparently:D

the gas thing is if you go back far enough you can make up any old crap. my house for instance is down as old lucan road but thats bollocks because its clondalkin. still if i flog it thats what i can say. you'd be amazed how shallow people are about these things:)

Well I live in Firhouse... Whenever I put my address down somewhere, it's always <Kirby's road>, Firhouse, Dublin 24. That's the norm around here.

When you look out your window and see horses you live in D 24... if you see ponies you live in D 16 :)

Knocklyon is d16, not 6w... 6w is Templeogue

Knocklyon is in Dublin 16. The border between 16 and 24 is now the M50 Motorway. Part of Knocklyon is on the far side and is classed as Dublin 24.

Lived in Firhouse 20 years ago till I was twelve. Firhouse used to be in the Templeogue postal area. When it was changed to D24 people quite rightly went apesh1t.
