Generally when I have a problem like that I find the best way to troubleshoot it is tojust connect up as few things as possible and try and eliminate that way what might be causing the problem.
Also it might be worth sticking your hard drive into your friends computer and seeing if it's working OK.
I have occasionally had problems with Maxtor drives in the past- learnt my lesson though! It'll be a Seagate next time!

make sure the speaker is connected well.

Leave only CPU/RAM/GPU(push it in well)

Yup speaker is definatley set up properly.....have it just ram cpu and gpu at the mo and nothing...machine turns on...but nothing on screen.can it be the cpu is the problem...i taught it must be the mobo as i aint even gettin a bios screen

    might be

but I had a similar problem, mobo would not do anything, and it turned out to be a mobo and cpu :(

Did you test your RAM/GPU and CPU on your old mobo?

Remove it from the case. Could be a short.

removed it from case there...removed everything...reset the cpu and cooler.put ram back in and cpu back in and booted it out of ther case...still the same....turning on but not even entering bios....any other suggestions?

It could be a silly question , but by any chance do you have 2 graphics outputs, i.e one on the board and a separate card?

Nope just the one off the gpu.....Ive done everything at this stage....because it wont even get to the bios stage does that prove its a mobo problem cos i think that its time to return this board....but i need to know its the board and not the cpu or psu

I cant solve this at all...i think returning is the only solution..how but i dont know if its the cpu or the mobo..Can anyone please help?
