Had Sky+ for 12 months, loved the service hated the price etc. Have had the house refurbished over the last year and due to move back shortly. Will be installing a HDTV with bells & whistles. Does anybody know when the new Sky boxes will actually be available?

If you go to www.avforums.com -> forums -> hdtv

There are a few threads there about the new HDTV service and you will get the latest news there. However as Mossy indicates there is no anouncement yet. It's all rumour and speculation.

It's likely it will start in the first half of this year, but the box is likely to be expensive and with some additional monthly charge.

Then there's the Ireland issue. I think the Sky+ was not immediately available here?

    Ix.

Of course if you can afford a 48" HDTV that does native 720p60, 720p50, 1080i30 and 1080i25 then why worry how much having 10 part-time HDTV channels will cost?
