In fairness, when Chuck lost to Rampage, it was also around the same time that Randy dominated him. Chuck has come on a long way since then. He's not unstoppable but he's clearly top 5. He has the ability to beat Rampage. He's wins over Couture, Overeem, Ortiz, Horn, Suloev, Babalu, Randleman, Belfort and a few others. He's a really solid fighter.

The above is spot on, the Chuck of then is not the same Chuck as now. Sure, he's not unstoppable, absolutely no one is, but he's pretty much up there with the best who are walking into the ring right now.

He's developed into a much clever fighter now than he was, even the first time he took on Randy. His conditioning is better, his hands are extrememly accuarte ( he put two shots spot on target through the guarded hands of Jeremy Horn, one when he was standing and the other when he was falling, that's some pretty accurate striking for those who would claim he is a swing and hope fighter ).

His latest win over Randy was a smart win, which i have pointed out already no seems to have noticed, or cared or wants to talk about.

All in all, Rampage is now walking around being the only person that Chuck has not got a win over after meeting in the ring. The fact that Chuck would happily go and fight him in Pride again is to be commended.

I really don't think the fight would go the same way as it did last time. Im not saying that Rampage wouldn't win, i just think it would be the fight of his life.

Damn, when I saw this thread I thought it was gonna be Chuck Norris versus Rampage. Rampage demolished Liddell in that fight. What's he been up to lately?

Losing to Wand as far as i can tell!

1/ Quoting my post then "replying" like I said Chuck wasn't a great fighter
2/ "Support Denmark, Defend the Free world"

Anyway I know Chuck is deadly, I just posted the video because its a great fight, pretty much like all of Rampage's fights. He has lost twice to Wand. Also, Chuck really isnt the amazing striker people make him out to be, he does manage to make his arms seem twice as long as they actually are... nifty trick that.

    Peace

According to the Medical Suspensions from UFC 57, Chuck won't be fighting for 6 months. Wonder what thats about???

Also, will the big delay mean Babalu will have to take out someone else before he gets his shot?

Rampage demolished Liddell in that fight. What's he been up to lately?

He's had his ups and downs.. Put on a hell of a fight against Wanderlei but got beat on two counts, both great fights. Then won a questionable decision against Ninja.. After that he got his rib broke against Shogun and Colin Oyama (his coach) told him to fight in, even though Quinton was in seriously pain and discomfort.

As Dragan said, chuck did fight a smart fight, but not really any different from all of his other fights imo, I just dont think randy changed his gameplan accordingly, bar 1 feint followed by successfull strikes.
I think there are 3 scenarios for the most part, with rematches/rubber matches
    1) Fight is as good as a replay of the first fight (neither fighter makes changes to make the difference and win [or both fighters are just that equally matched] )
2)One fighter makes a change that gives him the advantage and then the win
3)Both fighters make changes neccecary and come out with different game plans, and fight is completely different

I think, sure Chuck worked on other stuff, but he didnt really show it, maybe he didnt get the chance.
But, Randy seemed to come to the fight allready defeated, maybe the retirement decision was the cause.Randy could have with a good takedown/clinch game, like their first fight, taken Chuck at will imo (keeping him down obviously is a different story). Why not more counters/feints followed by strikes etc....
So with that in mind, I honestly dont see Chuck as that much of an improved fighter ( apart from cardio, seemingly anyway).Certainly not unstoppable, I think if Randy from Chuck vs Randy I came out, Randy'd still have won fight III.

You didnt, its at the bottom of all your posts.

Okay so everybody has their opinions of Chuck and Randy and how good Randy is or isnt and chuch etc etc. So now that that's done, who thikns Babalu can beat Chuck? What is nect for Randy? Pride? What is next for Chuck? (Arlovski at 220)

    Peace

I'd say babalu's best bet to beat chuck is on the ground. I think he can do it, but only if he keeps taking Chuck down and gets him to expend some energy trying to get back up, then finally keeps him down for gnp or decision.
Can't see Renato winning the stand up fight, he's not quite as good as Chuck who has better range etc.

Can't see Chuck fighting heavier for a while though, Arlovski would destroy him, he's not used to fighting guys with that kind of weight and power, or with ground game that good!!

LOL @ Chuck improving so much since then. He's 34 years old his dramatic improvement days are behind him. I think he's good but overrated and Chuck vs. Rampage would go the same way if it happened next week.

My two cents is Chuck would beat Quinton and moslt likley stop him. Rampage hasn't been any good since he found god.

Its called a profoundly misinformed statement.

Anyway, I doubt we'll see Chuck versus Rampage so who cares. The above clip is just a great fight, and it was topical following the ferora of Chuck posts flying around the internet.

    Peace

Thanks for the clip. I agree, I doubt we'll see them fight again.

I firmly beleive that Babalu can take Chuck. The last time ther met Babalu bought a shin to the face because he was simply moving too deep when ducking shots, he gave Chuck the perfect opening to land that kick.

It wouldn't happen again. I could see Babalu taking it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 161 ✭✭fianna.5u.com

The problem I see for Babalu is the fact that he was beaten before. Chuck is easily beaten when people give his hands the respect they deserve. His undefeatability arrives when people over respect his hands.

Having been knocked out before, will Babalu give Chucks hands too much respect?

    Peace

I don't think so, i think he will be wary of Chuck strikes, but i think he also knows that if he gets Chuck on the ground he stands a much better chance than Randy did with him. Randy was always gonna tkae him down and try and keep him there for some GnP, if Babalu takes him down he'll be going for a joint plain and simple!

I think Babalu's submissions are alot better than what they used to be. If he beats Chuck, it will be by submission. Will be a good fight either way.
