Trip Hazard, The Prescriptions & Noon Day Guns play The Venue, Rathfarnham next Saturday 11th February. Doors 8PM €10
    Band info / biogs below

    Trip Hazard

Trip Hazard released their debut album, Stay, in October 2005, on a low-key, limited-edition basis initially, little realising the amazing reviews that would follow and the subsequent interest in the band.

Stay showcases the band’s growth in terms of style and musicianship and demonstrates a move towards a more melodic, fuller sound with a few twists & turns along the way!! Initial feedback indicates a truly ‘noughties’ album with a distinctly ‘80s feel.

The tracks included on Stay showcase the bands ability to write & produce songs with catchy hooks, accessible lyrics & memorable choruses while maintaining all the energy of their live set.

    PRESS REVIEWS

Entertainment Ireland gave ‘Stay’ a maximum 4* review, calling it a ‘…highly impressive debut album…. proves that they've got a sound all of their own, Trip Hazard should have a very promising future ahead of them’ (see www.entertainment.ie for full review)
whilst HotPress stated that’… 'Stay' is as good a local debut as has arrived on the HotPress reviews desk in many a month…’
Irish Times Entertainment supplement (6/1/06) was similarly impressed “….interesting songs imbued with a sense of adventure….. astute aural thrills”

    The Prescriptions

Following the recently critically acclaimed release of the ‘pro bono publico’ EP and successful headline shows at Crawdaddy and Whelans. A band based on strong songwriting and dynamic live performances, their music is a potent brew of alternative folk, country and indie rock.
    Recent reviews include;
‘ …(the prescriptions) boast a gritty stroke of originality that not many irish bands can match….’ Metro.
‘a strange brew of The Stones, Dire Straits and Boomtown Rats,….featuring the Dylanesque rasp of Niall Brennan….’ Irish Times
‘…brazen melodies and inventive lyrics, The Prescriptions are the type of band that you want to listen to all night long.’ Cluas.com
‘…a remarkable range of tones and emotions. Both raw and soulful…’ soundsxp.com
‘…songs ranging from the highly polemic to gorgeously melodic…’ hot press

    Noon Day Guns

The Noon Day Guns, from Rathfarnham on the Southside of Dublin, have been working together for over a year and have recently progressed to playing venues like The Hub, Mother Redcaps, Tailor Hall, The Sugar Club and The Venue. They have also completed their first E.P. entitled Saint Ricardo.
The music is very different to most Irish bands. Influences and comparisons include Bob Dylan, Prince, The Smiths, Billy Joel and Paul Weller The songs represent the culture of the band yet they don’t sound traditional. It is contemporary and well worth a listen.
