Please dont take this as pointless advertising, or siffing or whatever that current trend of subconscious advertising on tinternet is.
I just wanted to let people know that this is a pretty cool place for buying CD's. Its just a small company run by a few people.
    According to thier site:

    * CD Baby is a little online record store that sells CDs by independent musicians.
    * [In•de•pen•dent: (adj.) Not having sold one's life, career, and creative works over to a corporation.]
    * We're just a few people (details here) in a cool Portland, Oregon, CD warehouse that looks like a playground. We listen to every CD we sell before we sell it, so we can help you find other albums you'll like.
    * We only sell CDs that come directly from the musicians. No distributors. Musicians send us CDs. We warehouse them, sell them to you, and pay the musicians directly.
    * Cool thing: in a regular record deal or distribution deal, musicians only make $1-$2 per CD, if they ever get paid by their label. When selling through CD Baby, musicians make $6-$12 per CD, and get paid weekly.
    * In business, and thriving, since March 1998. We're the largest seller of independent CDs on the web.

And check out the shipping email they wrote (actually written, not an auto reply, you get the auto reply first, then someone emails you to let you know when its shipped)

"Your CD has been gently taken from our CD Baby shelves with
sterilized contamination-free gloves and placed onto a satin pillow.

A team of 50 employees inspected your CD and polished it to make sure
it was in the best possible condition before mailing.

Our packing specialist from Japan lit a candle and a hush fell over
the crowd as he put your CD into the finest gold-lined box that money
    can buy.

We all had a wonderful celebration afterwards and the whole party
marched down the street to the post office where the entire town of
Portland waved 'Bon Voyage!' to your package, on its way to you, in
our private CD Baby jet on this day, Wednesday, February 8th.

I hope you had a wonderful time shopping at CD Baby. We sure did.
Your picture is on our wall as 'Customer of the Year'. We're all
exhausted but can't wait for you to come back to CDBABY.COM!!

    Thank you once again,"

For fans of indie music, its just a really nice site. Ive never gotten as cool a shipping email as that!

Well, your "handwritten reply" looks suspiciously word-for-word identical to the ones I get from them. But they are a very cool site.

Only place in the States that I can get Toasted Heretic CDs!!!! Bonus points for that.

CDBaby really only sells stuff that you couldn't get anywhere else - free or otherwise. Maybe from the band's own website, but certainly not from Amazon or any mainstream music store.

CDbaby signed a deal with Amazon a while ago to use their network for sales and shipping. It's botha good and a bad thing and it will be interesting to see if CDbaby stays the way it is.

In saying that they are a very good company and are really worth buying from for a some new music. They made a mistake and sent me a voucher and extra cds.
