yeah your right. LeBanner is as good a striker as they come. He would absolutely kill Sylvia. All Tim can do is a jab and right across. he wouldn't take it down, he has an illusion that he is a better striker than he actually is.

tim shot it down on mmaweeklyradio - he said that if lebanner wants to fight him then he needs to come to the ufc and fight under his rules - so no chance of tim goint to fight him in k1 or under k1 rules and also said that why challenge him - if arlovski is the no 1 fighter then why is he not challenging him - not going to happen - but under mma rules lebanner looked terrible - taken down very easily by an arm wrestler - hehe

J'aime Monsieur LeBanner. I don't know what ground/clinch skillz he has, or how he'd adapty his striking for a mma environment, but under k-1 rules, he'd gave most of the guys out that a run for their money. May not win, but would certainly be the type of opponent you'd like to avoid in a tournament. I'd love to see him win a k1 gp. I saw him fight gary goodridge recently, he totally out psyched him in my opinion, GG came out like a kitten rather than a tazmanian devil and got skooled. Also cyril abidi bout was a great contest!

I thought for a beginner in MMA LeBanner's first fight wasn't all that bad. Everyone can be taken down! He still worked the guard, and got the win, even if only over an arm wrestler!
dont forget big daddy gargy goodrich is an armwrestler! ;)

Sylvia's interview was good, he put it plain and simple, but certainly didnt back down from a fight in UFC with Le Banner, which I reckon would be a good one!

He'd really need to spend a lot of time learning how to sprawl before being competative in the hvyweight division.
I did like how he tko'd Bob "the Protected" Sapp in that wierd K-1 match (even tho they called it a draw).

no - he hasnt fought sapp 2/3 times in mma - he had that mixed rules match at the 2004 dynamite show - 2 k1 rounds and 2 mma rounds - but thats it

anyway - jbl called tims bluff on this one:

The following was sent exclusively to MMAWeekly.com from Jerome LeBanner and his manager following up Tim Sylvia's interview on MMAWeekly Radio.com

    Jerome LeBanner:

"Hi everyone. First of all I'd like to thank the fans, especially the American ones, who backed me up and thought I'd win against Tim even under MMA rules. I didn't think American fans would be that fair-play! In various forums (MMAWeekly, Sherdog, MMA.TV, Ironlife etc), most of the members think I'd win and that's touching. I'll reply point by point.

    1. I don't think it's disrespectful to challenge someone from another organization. Challenges are what this sport is about, it brings excitement and allows the best to fight against each other. And if I remember well, Sylvia challenged Pride champion Fedor... Contradiction?

    2. I thought a 2 fights deal, 1 fight in each organization would be good. But I have no problem with fighting him ONLY under mma rules in the UFC cage... Or anywhere else no matter the rules. So I officially state I want to fight Sylvia in the UFC cage. I'm at Dana White and Zuffa's disposal, and I'm waiting for them to reply to my manager's mail. I know they are serious people, I don't worry for that. Here's my manager's mail: alkermor@msn.com and my official website's address: www.jerome-le-banner.com

    3. Why him and not Andrei Arlovski? For 2 reasons: first I'm sick and tired of reading he has great striking skills. I think I can prove he's far from being world class on his feet. Then I'm not challenging AA cause I'm not arrogant, I'm new in mma and Andrei Arlovski is on top. I don't think I will do good in a ground phase with him. It's too early, I must improve. I'm honest and I'm not overestimating myself. Everybody knows I'm not afraid of anyone but you must be realistic. Furthermore UFC would never accept a fight between Andrei Arlovski and someone from another org.

    4. Sylvia says I'm a nobody and that I want recognition. He must be blind and deaf. Of course in the USA UFC is more well known than K-1 but in the entire world K-1 is far more popular. Sylvia is a no name outside of the USA, I'm not. I fought against the best and beat a lot of them, you can't say that for Tim.

    5. Sylvia talks about respect and then he insults me? I also read articles where he insulted Tito Ortiz... Contradiction again? Before opening his big mouth he should compare his career with Tito's. Tito is a huge champion an deserves respect.

    6. Regarding the insults again, I've met so many big mouths it doesn't bother me anymore. When I talk, I take upon myself and fight afterwards. He calls me "pussy", "bitch" he insults my name, he insults my country... What the **** is wrong with him? We'll see if he'll talk that much when we'll be face to face...

So there, I hope mma fans understood it's just about the sport and that I won't lower myself and start insulting him. Now, I'd like him to tell me all that stuff face to face in the octagon at UFC 58. I want to challenge him in front of everybody... I know he must fight Andrei Arlovski so I'll wait for this fight to happen. I just hope Andrei Arlovski won't hurt him too much... Sylvia has no chance against him.

It's up to Tim now and the UFC now, I want to challenge him face to face in the cage as he requested. Dana, invite me and I'll be here for UFC 58.

In fairness he was spot on in pretty much every point he made. Especially the one about Tim being a no name outside of the the USA. In fairness, i had heard of Le Banner long before i had heard of Tim.

As the UFC has grown in the last 24 months the athletes have really gotten very arrogant.

I wonder if someone reminded Tim of the fact that the best of his career was gear assisted would be settle a little bit.

That was my little bit of sarcasm there. IMHO, BSapp is protected and had the rules been followed, he'd have lost to Kimo and Lebanner by TKO for not being able to answer the bell, ergo, my refference to multiple matches.

JLB by round one left kick to crushed rib cage, colar bone, dislocated soulder combo. At least that's what I hope. I'd say h'e just KO Silvia.

On a more international note. I think GSP has done wonders for relations between France and America (at least for the small number of fans, a vast majority of which seem to be hicks) even though he is from Canada. If JLB was to become the CroCop of American MMA I think alot of the animosity between the two nations would be softened. Yeah right, but I wish! Let he memes do there work.

    JLB is the man.

    Peace
