Wedding Car business?

    Here's what I was thinking - and I'm looking for any advice or experience you guys might have on this;

    Running a small Wedding Car hire business might be a good way of financing a nice classic car (Mark II Jag for instance). So here are the questions:

    1) How much can you hire out a classic car for a wedding for? (none of the sites seem to have prices)
    2) What insurances would you need?

    Not being smart but:-

    1/. As much as you can! Ring around and see what the rates are. I'd suggest a white car Jag/Merc/Roller.

    2/. A policy that covered wedding hire.

    Think thet you need a PSV Licence for that and public insurance, essentially you'll be a taxi. The car will have to get its commercial NCT, I think. I've seen a fair few cars up for sale from similar projects, white jags/rolls.

    Also not all weddings are on a weekend, if your work is flexable...cool, if not, you'll be turning down loads of weddings.

    I thought of it, but I don't think that it would be worth it

    Mustangs 68 is correct, you will need a psv and be constrained to the same regulations as a taxi,ntc every year, bloody expensive insurance. I drive a taxi and had toyed with the idea of doing an occasional wedding before I made my choice on the Mustang but realised that any benifits of owning a classic were basically wiped out, for instance, my first insurance for a public service vechicle
    (and a wedding car is one) was 5 grand, so do the math.
    Your other alternative is to buy and insure your classic and ehh.. do stuff like weddings etc, but that would be highly illegal and I wouldn't recommend it.;)

    Hate to be a dry ****e, normally I am all for cutting red tape, but....

    I would be a bit carefull doing this, I recently did a (first and last) wedding for some friends and the bride almost broke her neck getting out of the back of the car (the coupe isn't exactly ideal ).
    No problem for me as they are friends but can you imagine the compensation a bride who trips and falls/ rips dress on her wedding day getting in/out of your car would want.
    Put the house on the market !

    ps first and last is not because of the trip thingy, coz I get bored haning around church holding flowers, bags, cameras etc.

    Going off topic for this thread.......

    Anyone ever been intrested in hearses :eek: ? Sure someone buys them, not my cup of tea. There is a lot of them around (newish), so there must be older ones kicking around, wonder what happens to them

    A better way to finance a classic car would be to hire it out for photo shoots and static promotional work. Of course you need a read head turner for that - a great big finned American thing is probably best.

    bad taste but still funny :P

    ive always wanted a hearse, an 84 ford granada with the original windscreen and roof pillars in the front ( not the chopped and heightened one version )
    also they had a Mercedes hearse, 70-80 model, not sure exactly which, where i used to work. it was always left parked up with the keys left in it. and ive wanted it since. i think lowered 20mm all round and a nice set of alloys and id be happy :)
