Problem with Satellite and normal NTL

    Hi,

I have a strange problem that has just cropped up with regard to my satellite.

I run the normal NTL (pipe) signal into my SKy box and then send the signal that comes out around the house . This meant that I had all the normal NTL stations and also the sky signal piped around the house. Sky station was simply tuned in the same way as bbc1, rte etc...

This has worked fine for 5 years. Today the NTL signal went and since it came back it is intefering with the skybox signal. I has sky tuned into number 8 but now it is unwatchable . If I take out the ntl signal into the sky box then sky is still tuned in to number 8 on other tellys and works fine. Put the ntl signal back in and the other stationsare there but sky is unwatchable.

Would the frequency of the ntl signal being sent in have changed or does anyone have any ideas why this would be happening ??

2 kids shouting at me that they cant eatch nick jnr isnot something I look forward to tomorrow :)

Change the output RF channel of your Sky box, to do this you have to go into the Installers Menu, press Services 4-0-1 and select, choose RF Freq and change it to a different channel, its probably set at 68, so move it down to 59 or 60 and save and exit, you then must re tune all the TV's in the house have have the Sky piped to them. eg. on program number 8 on your TV that you say you watch Sky on must be re-tuned to 59 or 60 to receive a picture.

Cheers DigiDec, I'll try that out.

    On Sky box
    Services 4 0 1 Select
    This gives "hidden" Install menu.

Try a different channel for Sky. You will need to re-tune the TV set.

    Worked a treat thanks lads.

Would it be NTL changing the frequency range they are using that caused the problem ?

Yes they must have added another digital multiplex to their cable line-up.
