    Hi,

There are so many types of RAM available, how do i know which one my laptop uses. I want to upgrade my laptop from 192mb ram to around 700 or 950 mb's. I have a 2.40ghz compaq presario 2500 so will the xtra 500 or 750 mb make much difference to speed, finding it a bit slow sometimes.

We'll assume that with that processor speed you're running Windows XP on the
laptop. In this case, 192MB RAM isn't very much and you will tend to notice the
computer running a little slower than perhaps it could.

What you'd really want is a minimum of 256 MB RAM in the laptop. Best practice
would be to have just 512 MB as that is all you'll really need. You can buy more
than that if you want, but it'll probably go to waste.

You can use utilities such as Fresh Diagnose to find out all kinds of information
    about your PC.
