You bought a Dell AKA Lexmark Printer. And your pissed off paying more per litre for ink than you would for don peringnon fine champagne? Try Cartridge World - I think there's one on the North Circular

Or you could try changing to a printer that has cheaper ink readily available for it? Might work out cheaper in the end

it will dell chip the cartridges so that you have to buy originals, you can get em refilled but never work properly, if you get a free dell printer bin it when the ink goes out and buy a new one, their colour lasers are cheaper to replace than buy toner for!

Dell cartridges are not chipped there is a small difference in the shape of the cartridges but this can worked around.

Yes unfortunatly they are (I work for dell) and the printers are chipped and resized from orignal lexmark cartridges

    Related Technologies
Lexmark, which uses smart chips in some of its laser printer toner cartridges, in Jan. 2003 took a small company called Static Control Components to court, claiming that SCC had violated the DMCA by circumventing its technological copy protection device. SCC agreed to voluntarily stop selling its replacement cartridges using the contested chips.

In March 2003, Dell released a new line of printers, manufactured by Lexmark. The news is not that they're priced aggressively -- that's to be expected from Dell. No, the newsworthy aspect of this announcement is the fact that the units contain a chip that disables the cartridge if it is refilled and replaced. Reportedly, the cartridges are different sizes than cartridges from other printer vendors, including Lexmark -- and replacement cartridges are currently available only from Dell. This, say analysts, should limit the amount of knockoff cartridges available -- at least until someone figures out how to reverse engineer Dell’s cartridges, as has already happened with Lexmark, Epson, and just about any other type of "smart-chipped" cartridge ever developed. Our Printer News page for Mar. 2003 has additional details. ::

    And From Slashdot

Dell Takes the Low Road Regarding Ink Cartridges

"Dell released a line of printers today, manufactured by Lexmark. As covered by by Yahoo they '..contain a chip that disables the cartridge if it is refilled and replaced in a Dell printer..' and 'The cartridges are different sizes than cartridges from other printer vendors, including Lexmark, the spokesperson said. This will limit the amount of knockoff cartridges available, but only until someone figures out how to reverse engineer Dell's cartridges.'" In the interest of full disclosure, note that the poster sells knockoff carts.
