Hi guys, i'm trying to capture a frame from a movie. I basically want to export one single image as a jpeg or something similar. I always thought you could do this with VLC but i can't find the option to do it. I have Nero Showtime aswell, i don't know if that function is in Nero thou.

Yuo can do it in VLC, go to the Video Drop Down and it's there - Click Snap Shot.

Start vlc from a command line with the "--no-overlay" switch. Play the video normally. You will now be able to take screenshots with the prnt scrn key. Prnt scrn and paste into an image editor. It's that simple :)

so you would enter something like this in the run dialog:
    c:\Program Files\VideoLAN\vlc.exe --no-overlay

    Hope it helps.

    I don't follow.

This is a JPEG screen grab, a frame from an episode of Lost that I just took from using the method I described above. It's at my desktop resolution too.. You could use it as a wallpaper.

    Am I missing something?

Try downloading a program called fraps, very simple , just leave it open when watching your vid in vlc or mpc and press F10 to grab an image.
