What is the Network Port Ref.

    In a PC networks Maintaince Course and there seems to be some confusion over weather the NIC port is also called RJ-45 as i know that is what the connector of the Network Lead is called. anyone know the reference for the NIC interface port. thanks

    I've always known it to be the RJ45 port.

    Strictly speaking, RJ-45 refers to the jack; however there would seem to be no name for an RJ-45 socket other than "RJ-45 socket". Which makes sense; it is a socket for a jack of that designation.

    NIC = Network Interface Card.... THE CARD PEOPLE!!!!! :D
    (So i guess techniquly port would be the female of the rj-45....)

    Yeah, RJ-45 is just the name of the type of connector on the end of the cable.
