    Hi Everybody,
I 've just noticed that my guinea pig is not feeling well. Doesn't seem to eat much anymore, or move and her droppings are much smaller than usual.
does anybody know a good vet in Dublin city centre?

Any help will be much appeciated.
    Thanks

Hi, try and get the guinea pig to a vet asap, I don't know any in Dublin City center but mabey someone else can help with that and in the mean time ring around vets in your local area and ask do they deal with guinea pigs.
Guinea pigs go down hill very quickly so it's important she gets to a vet within hours.
The symptoms you give could be absolutley anything from the dreaded cancer, to an infection. All else fails take to a vet you feel is reliable and make sure if they are giving an antibiotic that they prescribe a safe one, the general one they give is Baytril which is a good all round antibiotic, make sure the dosage is correct for the weight and that you give the guinea pigs acedopholis capsule (you can pierce it and squeeze the contents into the mouth) twice a day.
Guinea pigs systems will shut down rapidly if they stop eating and it is hard for them to recover. The only vets I can think of outside of Dublin are Bray vet and Bairbre O'Malley in Bray.

    Hope this helps.

I have taken my GPs to Castle Vets in Clondalkin. Manus Cannon is the vet there that was recommended to me.

A Vet Nurse friend of mine doesn't know anywhere in the city centre that specialises in small animals but she recommends Anicare www.anicare.ie they have a branch in Glasnevin.

PS she doesn't work there does a bit of locum work and was very impressed.

    HTH.

There's also a vet on the Cabra Road/Dowth Avenue junction.

The clontarf branch of anicare is just off the main fairview road it'd be the easiest to get to from the city centre, the 20B bus has a bus stop near it

Ive never used it for smallies but it has a good rep in general
