Just wondering if SATA2 is backwards compatible with normal SATA. Reason being I'm looking for a smaller sized (<100Gb) SATA drive. The only ones that Komplett have a SATA2 but my mobo is only standard SATA

It should work, but you will only get the preformance of SATA

SATA's max throughput is in the region of 150 megabytes per second....more then fast enough for any SATA drive.
SATA-II is in the region of 300mb/s

So you shouldn't really notice any differance.

makes no difference TBH. Your drive is unlikely to peak above 80MB\s anyway.
