For those of us, myself included, who don't give a damn about that sport that Americans laughingly call 'football', the Superbowl is still a much-anticipated event: For the advertisements.

There has been for some years now a competition between various companies to have the best/funniest Superbowl adverts. As the game is for some reason the single most watched show in the US, the companies go all out.

    They are now online here:
http://www.ifilm.com/superbowl?htv=12 The Hummer one is a cheat, it was actually shown before the Superbowl.

This year's crop wasn't fantastic, but the Magic Fridge (Bud Lite), the Caveman (FedEx), The Mobile Phone with Crime Deterrent Feature (Sprint) and The Beer and the Bear (Bud Lite)are the leading contenders. Air travellers who saw the Sierra Mist one saw the truth in advertising.

If you have time and bandwidth to spare, check out the previous year's advertisements (Linked on the right). Some companies, such as careerbuilder.com have had running themes over the years, if you really have time to burn, start with 2000 and work forwards.

    Enjoy, post your favourite.

    NTM

The Terry Tate office linebacker adds from 2003 are the best.

Well, remember, an American Football game lasts for something between 3 and 4 hours as the clock stops almost every time the whistle blows.
