Reading are fielding a weakened team like they have in all of their other FA cup ties. I expect Birmingham to go through now because of this.

Doyles not starting, its Kitson and Long up front. Hunt in the midfield. 1-0 and Long to score is ~150/1 I think.

Birmingham are down to the bare bones too Kingp. Jarosik up front!

Finished 2-1, a header from Gray sealed it. Only Readings 2nd defeat in 39 games, the other being to Arsenal.

Thought the Irish lads on show were average at best, Hunt took his goal well but was otherwise poor. Long was a no-show. Painter did alright at the back for Birmingham.

Won't even bother commenting on Kitson and Bruce ;)

Sinnott was signed from Bray this season. That's 4 ex-EL players on the books of Reading.

And as Gimmick posted in the eL Transfers thread, Cork are close to signing an 18 year old Australian who has been refused a work permit for Reading, most likely to hold him for a year before passing him on.

Could have been 5 if Bradley (Drogheda) didn't turn them down.

Poor enough game, but it was never going to be very fluent with both teams having so much changes. Marcus Painter got man of the match for Birmingham. I thought Alex Bruce did well, aside from his error, which I think he bounced back well from. Kitson will be rueing one or two chances he missed.
From Steve Coppell's selection and then body language after the match, he didn't seem overly upset that they went out. Which I find strange...I mean, if they were trying to maintain a play-off spot then you could understand why he wouldn't want any fixture congestion, but barring a disaster, they should sail towards the Premiership from now until the end of the season. They had an excellent chance to beat Birmingham, given all of their injuries (missing 14 players tonight) and they would have went on to face Stoke in the next round, a team they are 20+ points ahead of in the Championship.

You see thats how rumours start. There is no guarantee City will sign him, though it is looking promising.

As for the game itself, I felt that once Reading equalised, Brum dominated. Reading didnt seem to want to win the game, silly as that sounds.

Poor enough game, but I doubt Reading will care, as promotion is the priority, and I dare say Bruce wouldnt have been too dissapointed had Brum lost either.
