I've never had it done but I'm guessing that the price will depend on exactly how they are impacted. You'll probably need to get your dentist to refer you to dental surgeon. The dental surgeon will probably then need a consultancy with some cranial x-rays beforehand. Then you'll get into the territory of the expensive dental operation.

If you havn't already been to your dentist then I'd suggest going to get them checked with some ordinary dental x-rays and enquiring about both private dental insurance and using your PRSI contributions to offset some of the cost.

as much as 1500 euro depending on whether its in or out patient.
(hospital stays are up to 500 euro a night) also theres a fee for anaesthetist, and the surgeons fee. if u are on the vhi i think they will pay , if not u will probably have to. could be done for 500 by a competent dentist in a practice though. referral into the dental hospital in dublin is an option but u could be looking at about 2 years last i heard.

To my knowedge you can get some tax relief for wisdom tooth extraction (but only for hospital based operations).

Also, a relatively inexpensive trip to your dentist could give you a lot more information about how badly your wisdom teeth are impacted and the pro's and con's of getting an extraction.

Some can be got out in the dentists. Some overnight, and some need proper specialists that take longer and cost more. All varies

I'm getting mine out next month.
Had to go to a dentist first for an x ray that cost 80.
Then a consultant to tell you the same thing the dentist did 150.
Then to get them extracted its I think about 350, going to a place in Ranelagh, VHI pay half. Will check it out for ya tomorrow got the receipt at work. Takes an hour or so but you'll be spaced out for the day, will need a few days off and have a face like you met Mike Tyson and called him a sissy.

Also depends on how many or how complicated it is I'm talking about one straight forward extraction.

I got 4 out 2 weeks ago in thenorthbrook clinic. Think the bill was in teh region of €1800. I had to pay €300 and VHI covered the rest.

I got one wisdom out for free via my Dentist over the Medical card and my other bottom wisdom is getting pulled by him in two weeks

How much will it cost to get my other top ones which are under the gums, and cannot be taken out by him. My Dentist can pull them when they are up, but they will impact my gums and push my teeth! anybody have simular probs?

Will it cost a thosand by going private
Will it take two years on the waiting list if i go via medical card/healthboard?? :(
