    Race Hate Cleric Jailed

    Updated: 17:08, Tuesday February 07, 2006
Muslim cleric Abu Hamza has been jailed for seven years after being found guilty of a series of race hate crimes and soliciting murder.
Hamza was given a host of concurrent jail sentences for the crimes, related to his inflammatory speeches at Finsbury Park mosque.
The Old Bailey judge handed Hamza a seven-year sentence for inciting murder - he was found guilty of six out of nine soliciting to murder charges.
He was also convicted of two out of four charges under the Public Order Act 1986 of "using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with the intention of stirring up racial hatred".
The 47-year-old cleric was given a 21-month sentence for each charge, to run concurrently.
He was also found guilty of possessing threatening, abusive or insulting recordings with a view to stir up racial hatred.
For this he was handed a three-year sentence, again to run concurrently.
He was given a three-and-a-half-year sentence, to run concurrently, for possessing a document - the Encyclopaedia Of The Afghani Jihad - deemed useful to terrorists.
Hamza was told he would serve about half of the seven-year sentence.
He faces extradition to the US and trial for further terror charges on his release.
Speaking through his lawyer after sentencing, Hamza said he was a "prisoner of faith" and would appeal against the conviction and extradition to the US.
In sentencing, Mr Justice Hughes said Hamza had "helped to create an atmosphere in which to kill has become regarded by some as not only a legitimate course but a moral and religious duty in pursuit of perceived justice".
Hamza, from west London made a series of speeches at the Finsbury mosque to try and recruit volunteers to carry out terrorist acts.
The prosecution alleged he was a recruiting sergeant for terrorism and murder.
Hamza claimed the case against him was politically motivated.

It's about time. How much longer could he have gotten away with inciting murder while cloaking it as his religion? I'm sure there'll be a very understanding welcoming committee where he's going now.

Damn, he was my main choice for the sequel of Hook...

What the **** is the point of concurrent sentences? He may as well only have been found guilty of one crime then. The dickhead could do with some jail time, but I doubt he'll be left with the general prison population.

will he be sent to the states where they want him for more serious crimes

Great to see him jailed and even better to see the young British "protester" who dressed up as a suicide bomber last week arrested toady also. Freedom of expression is something that most Europeans take to heart and no Muslims should be allowed to take that away from us. Western Christian/Islamic are at an all time low and with these protests and with that lunatic Ahmadnejad trying to have a Nuclear Iran and Dubya threatening sanctions. If diplomats aren't careful this could lead to major clash of cultures and possibly a Major Religious driven war. Another Crusade from the Muslims point of view! Abu Hamza being jailed in the UK I reckon could galvinise British Muslims against the system.

I'm not completely upto date on the whole Denmark and protestor dressing up as a suicide bomber story as I've been away for the last week. But how can people be saying in one sentence that they support freedom of speach, which I belive is what all the new Denmark sigs are about, but then in the next sentence say that it is right that a protestor be denied his chance to have freedom of speach in return.

If it is truly a free society then everyone should be allowed their say, then you just exercise your right to ignore them.

I think dressing up as a suicide bomber was seen as a death threath, like the signs saying "Behead those who indult Islam". He wasn't prosecuted for them, only his parol was revoked. I'm not entirely sure about it all. I think the people with the signs should have been arrested instead. I think he had the right to express himself with out apologising as he did unless there there was a term in he parol that said he couldn't take part in any public disturbances or something.

you make a good point there. the thing is, hamza was standing in the streets of london preaching "death to the infidels" and other things like that. he was totally anti-western values, yet he was there for years and was also recieving social welfare payments from the british government, a government he claimed to despise. he basically wanted all non muslim people to be killed and was trying to get other muslims to do it.

the cartoon thing, while done in poor taste, is a different story altogether.
muslims don't agree with depictions of mohammed in an form as it may lead to idolatry. thuis is something they take very seriously. so seriously in fact that everything made my a muslim person will have a deliberate flaw in in. it will only be something minor, like an incomplete pattern on a rug. this is because they believe that only god can create something perfect.
the danish people were basically testing the waters to see how the muslim community in denmark would react. it was blown out of proportion last week when a danish imam and known terrorist supporter went on a tour of the middle east and showed these pictures in every place he went. he also brought three fake pictures with him to try to gain more support for his anti-west cause.

hamza abused his right to free speech by calling for the death of the people who were looking after him and by inciting hatred towards those of us who don't have the same beliefs as he does.
the danes were just being dicks.

He had been arrested before on drugs charges and this violated his parole. Also I think I heard something about him being found with more drugs? Plus the whole inciting hatred thing.

The extremists are so ridiculous, especially those from immigrant families. Why come to England if you hate it so much? There's no need to kill innocent people and encourage others to do so. This kind of behaviour really is unnacceptable. Some of the Asian families in the UK choose to live in Asian communities away from the English people. This baffles me. They've come to another country which has a different culture yet they group together and refuse to think about the fact that they chose to come here and are rejecting any views from the locals. I'm not saying it happens a lot but if you live in the UK you see that there are a small minority that do this. They act as if everyone is out to get them and like England and the English people are the enemy.

Also Catholics are made fun of regularly and I don't see them going around threatening to kill people and starting riots. Imagine if that had happened over Father Ted?

All the B.S. of the previous week angries up my blood. I get plain livid whenever I watch the news for more than 30 seconds, so I try not too.

Is there a fascist party looking for angly members to exploit? I'd be a perfect candidate.

That is quite a bit of a contradiction there julep... Is the editor/journalist/artist a neo-nazi/racist or not?

freedom of speech doesn't cover incitement to racial hatred or incitement to murder. and rightly so. lets go and kill everyone who doesn't agree :D

    Rubbish!

As I've posted in another thread. The cartoon printed over five months ago in the Danish newspapers was purely political comment. It was and is being misinterpreted by oversensitive muslims.

About time. Was watching a debate between two representatives of the muslim community in Britain. Hilarious. The guy supporting Hazma was basically a nazi, he was making off that the whole "Hitler was sent here to undermine the jews" idea was straight out of the Koran, what compelte BS, while the opposition guy was saying, "Look we agree that ew're opposed to british/U.S. foreign policies, but we don't agree with killing jews or anyone who disagres with us".

Furthermore, the clown supporting Hazma kepy quoting the Koran, and talking about his muslim "borthers and sisters", but he was a caucasian male, with a british accent, while the guy opposing him was obviously of asian descent, and being totally reasonable.

How can guys like this white nazi clown be speaking for any part of the muslim community?
