How do i deactive xp?

    I need to deactivate xp on my old system so i can use it on my new system(as told by microsoft)

    What do i do to deactivate/uninstall it on the old machine?

    Uninstall it. There's no real other, legal, way.

    Go here in regedit
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Current Version\WPAEvents

    click OOBETimer, click modify change any digit to deaticate windows save it and reboot, windows is gone.

    Tip do AFTER you take files from the pc.

    ok i edited that file and went back into windows but it didnt do anything...

    how do i uninstall windows and clear it completly?


    (jeez Wizzard how much did that comp cost you)

    Make sure you grab your files you need first. Reboot into MSDOS (using an old MSDOS-Bootdisk or bootCD) and type format c:\
