    Hi,

This is a pretty vague question, but looking for ideas of where to bring herself for 2 or 3 days this month. We went to Prague a while ago, and loved it there so that sort of city would be ideal.

    Any suggestions?

    thanks,

    Eoin

We went to Barcelona this time last year for a few days. its really cheap with ryanair flights and accommodation over there is really easy to find because there are not overcrowded with tourists. theres enough to see a do for a few days but a week is too long.

Rome is cheap enough and really needs about 3/4 days to see it all as well but with Valentines Day it might be hard to find accommodation, not really sure cos we went in Sept. We found it a bit more expensive than Barcelona for accomm. But it is an amazing city and there is always a good vibe there. Florence or Venice are also nice but theres not a huge pile to do, but Venice is quite romantic! Paris is good too, but again its a bit pricey at this time of the year. Sophia and Budapest are really nice cities if you are looking towards the style of Prague.

Really id suggest looking up Ryanair or Aerlingus to see what the flights are costing and go from there if you are on a budget.

We just came back from Carcassonne at the weekend and it was gorgeous (but so damn cold....). Flights with Ryanair were €120 & the hotel was €200 so a weekend away for €320 - €160 p.p. - was a great deal

The airport is 10 minutes away from Carcassonne itself. You can either get a taxi straight to your hotel which is about €15 or get the Navette bus to the train station for €5 each and then try to find your hotel.... get a cab!

We stayed at a gorgeous hotel right beside the old Cite called Hotel Montmorency http://www.lemontmorency.com. It's absolutely gorgeous and very french. We booked a deluxe room and it was worth the extra dosh... breakfast is €6.50pp and is enough to set you up for the day. Don't forget that in France you have to pay a Tax de Sejour which is €1 per couple per day & it's charged at the end of your stay.

Carcassonne is very very pretty - La Cite is like something out of a fairytale and there's some really good restaurants within the walls. The main town is really nice - loads of shops and a food market on Saturday mornings.

A weekend there is plenty - flights leave Dublin at 09.20 & return on Sunday at 13.20

Thanks a million for all the suggestions people - we are actually going at the end of the month, so hopefully will be missing all the Valentines day prices!

I would highly recommend Berlin. Great city and lots to do. You would fill 3 days no problem....

Spent a weekend in Florence. Grabbed rynair after work on Friday and back home Sunday evening. Fantastic town. Very compact but with centuries of history, which is not really my thing but seeing the sculptures and architecture blew me away. Locals are dead sound and have a very nice way about them, in that it's not all about ripping off tourists and they are naturally friendly. Food is fantastic (it is Italy after all) and everyhting, including a nice hotel is very reasonably priced.
    Ideal for a weekend :D
