Is Chorus the only option for Kilkenny? Is there cable in Kilkenny?

Satellite (Either free or subscription) is a Killkenny option.

If it is a Chorus area they decide if you are on Cable or MMDS. Each area has only Chorus or NTL, which I suppose is why the new owner was able to buy both as they couldn't compete with each other, only with Sky.

You don't need Sky or a Sky subscription to get the free satellite channels, see
    http://bytelive.com/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=Sky+Specific

Check out the Free and subscription lists.

That site is a "sticky" for these ICDG forums, sorry not much Cable/MMDs content yet.

    Any questions ask away.

Also even on Satellite you can (but not so easily) subscribe to other Companies such as Art, Digitalb, ABSat etc. Sky themselves are not Irish. (Neither are Chorus/NTL), and Sky while in theory UK based is not really British either. There are a lot of Cyfra (Polish Satellite TV) dishes in Limerick, so many options exist apart from the traditional Chorus/NTL with traditionally poor pictures and poor customer service.

Having suffered NTL cable, Chorus Cable and Chorus MMDS in the past (All Analog), if I was not allowed a dish I would ONLY consider the Digital service from Chorus/NTL.

Even if you get Sky and cancel you own all the gear from day 1 and still get all the free TV and radio. So if you got Sky and decided later to get Chorus/NTL Digital (say for bundled Broadband and phone), you'd be having your cake and eating it, as you'd still have 70 radio stations and about 25 decent free TV including more BBC & ITV than is possible with Chorus/NTL
