hey im just wondering if anyone here has any experience working in it or could give me any hints as to where to get a decent lunch (and decent coffee as ill need it:D!).

i have to decide whether to work in hand injuires, neurology or A &E, and frankly iv no clue what to expect. has anyone here worked in any of these departments or are they familiar with the OTs working there, iv only a day or two to make up my mind.

also how long does it take on the luas (from Jervis) to tallaght hospital or do any buses serve it that would get in quicker to town? i may be able to ge tthe 75 from Dundrum but i don't know how near that goes to the hospital or how long it takes to get in.

im reckoning ill have to get up at 6.45am to be in on time which im dreading as im not a morning person :(......

Luas takes about 40-45 minutes. Get off at cookstown and go in the back entrance which is open if you are student or staff, its quicker than walking the long way around.

there are buses. but none are fast. Avoid the 49, its the Succubus and takes 1 hour 30 minutes into town, likewise the 77A.

In order of speed - 50, 56A, 77 are the best. the 75 takes the long road through industrial estates and best avoided.

Food in the canteen is that freeze, chill, re-heat system and is generally fairly generic. In fact, its identical to the food served in the canteen down the far end of St. James Hospital (presuming you've been there when in the Trinity Centre). Not like naas, where i have just finished my 6 weeks, they make all the food fresh and bake their own scones and cakes and stuff. And tea and coffee is free. I love Naas.

For coffee in Tallaght, go to the Coffee place thats in the canteen. I think its called The Recovery Dock or something. Its not bad, not great but will do the trick. Anyway, you OT's work social hours, you wont need caffeine.

Placement was brilliant. I got to do loads and experienced a good range of patients, both surgical and medical.
I went with the OT's for a few assessments, that was good. I now understand what it is that OT's really do.
I got a lot of practice at clinical skills, and have really polished off my basic nursing/care skills. Just being in the hospital, and seeing how the whole system works was an interesting experience.
