I have a Netopia 3347 router, I can connect my xbox 360 to live no problems and my laptop has no problems connecting to the internet via wireless router. I am running windows xp home edition sp2. I've tried www.xbox.com/pcsetup to get my laptop to connect to the xbox using windows medai connect but no joy, when it gets to authorizing xbox page it stops. I've downloaded windows media connect 2 but still the laptop is not finding the xbox. I'd say I'm doing something stupid. Can anyone help as I want to stream media from my laptop to my 42" HD plasma. Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong would be welcome. I've tried xbox 360 support tips and windows support but nothing seems to be working.

are you the only user on the laptop ? (what I mean is: is there more than one user account ?)

I was unable to do this using my 'office' laptop but have been able to do it using 2 other PCs on my home lan

one thing worth trying is to install the demo of twonkyvision and seeing if that works. will help you rule out the windows media connect software.

I'm wondering if anyone with a Netopia 3347 got xbox 360 to connect to the pc using windows media connect.
I've tried all the suggestions even removing the .net framework and reinstalling it but still no joy. I set the router firewall and xp firewall off and still nothing.

Has anybody actually managed to get this to work??

yes i have gotten this to work over a wireless home network

i had my 360 on and my pc on , the 360 could see my pc over the wireless network

then i started up wmc and allowed the 360 in devices in wmc and gave it access to my picture and music folders.

went back down to the 360 and could see both folders and what they contained.

i made sure the router firewall was set to low also.

I tried to set up Connect there 2 weeks ago. I spent 4 or 5 hours looking up stuff on the net and messing around with it trying to figure out what i was doing wrong.
After a lot of messing and eventually giving up on the problem, i noticed that despite what the xbox was telling me, i had access to the shared folders on my laptop. During setup on the 360, it gets to a point where it seems like setup has failed but it has actually worked.
Once Media Connect was set up on the laptop and it showed the 360 as allowing file sharing, I was able to access photos from my PC.

Have you got it setup on your PC yet or are you having problems even doing that?
