Just looking for some owners views on it? I'm looking at buying one at the moment. Is it worth the money?

    cheers :D

Got a 60gb one yesterday, I like it a lot. I had a 20gb ipod before, so I'm used to the itunes/ipod setup and might be a little biased and only upgraded because I needed a bigger capacity. I'm not bothered by the video/photo aspect, just the music and it does what it says on the tin well, in my opinion :)

I haven't had any other MP3 players before but in my opinion the battery life is appaling. I get maybe 8 - 10 hours out of a brand new iPod.

Alternatively it could be the battery indicator is sh*t. It's only ever turned off once on me due to the battery going down.

Video is a bit of a pain in the ass to convert over to play but it's very smooth and watchable when it does.

iTunes is a pain in the ass in the beginning, you get used to it later. I blocked the f*&ker from accessing the web on my firewall just in case Apple decide to start collecting data again. Apart from that it's ok I guess, I'd prefer it if there was an option to turn off music from appearing in the albums, artists section and just have it in a playlist of choice as it starts looking fairly cluttered after a while. And there's no way to roll back the iPod which would be handy, some kind of system restore.

Apparently the Creavtie Vision M is meant to be the business but I don't care what anyone says I think it's much bigger than the iPod and the controls aren't fantastic.

Overall I'd give it 6.5 out of 10.

definetly worth buying, I got one for christmas. battery life is only two hours for video, but when compared to other brands, it's the best there is. you won't get features like lyrics and album art on any other player, so iPod is the best there is.

if you need all your songs with you at all times, get a 30 or 60gb, but if you're active and use your computer a lot, use the nano or mini, because it has a (much smaller) FLASH memory and is less prone to skipping than the 5g.

for my mere 800+ track library, i guess i should've gotten a 4gb nano, but the 30gb is pure value for money, when compared to smaller iPods, and taking all it's many many abilities into consideration.

MOD EDIT: if anyone needs a video converter for the iPod, READ THE FAQ.
MOD EDIT 2: your sig breaks the rules of this site. Fix it or I'll delete it on every post you make on this board. - Bard

I'm curious as to what you are comparing with, as I got an Archos AV420 last summer and it has a superior battery life and has album art.

As well as a direct TV connection for playing or recording from the telly (i'm not sure if the IPod has this but I assume it doesn't), a nice big screen and capabilites for numerous video formats.

Now to be honest who wouldn't give up the album art and lyrcis feature if the battery lasted alot longer. Actually there's a tip I found if I switch off the album art and turn the screen backlight to 2 seconds you can squeeze that little bit more out of it.

Has anyone else found that when the battery goes dead it simply won't come back on? I think there's some kind of switch it triggers that says do not atmept to switch back on until it's been docked or charged. You know how sometimes with any battery device you get sometimes even just a flicker on the screen.

If it was me, i would wait and see what apple release at the end of march....
Rumour has it that they gonna come out with an iPod with larger screen and a touchscreen to boot !
However its all just hearsay at the moment.

Got one back at the start of December, and I'm very satisfied with it..

The video quality is excellent is the only real thing I can add to this... with a decent processor (which I don't have :( ) converting is no problem...

my one main problem is that it scratches unbelieveably easily... The casing is half the thickness of the previous iPods... I'm sorry I took the protective plastic off it so soon.. I had to get a silicone case as soon as I could..

    Battery isn't amazing either..

other than that it's a v.good player imo.

Sauron, to your comment on its scratchability, YES. where did you get the 'cone case and how much did it cost?

ooh you got me there. i think the Archos is a better choice as a VIDEO player, but i use my iPod for music. i wish i had gotten the archos, now.

apparently that's not the "true" video ipod though. wait until the new one's out and compare. if the new one's way better get it, otherwise the current one will drop in price

    WRONG!

album art is also available on the vision:M

my brother has the ipod 3gb video, and i have the creative.

i prefer the ipod controls and layout. the size of the zen isnt much bigger though, no matter what anyone says. the zen has more options, and is a lot easier to use software wise.

overall, i prefer the zen over the ipod, but i use both, so im not that bothered.
