I was in America for 2 weeks last August. My friends were there for 3 months.
They'd stayed in San Diego. I'd advise against this as it's full of Irish and it's not that great.

LA is a ****hole but if you go to the right places it's nice.

We stayed on the Santa Monica Blvd in West Hollywood which is a decent enuff area. Close to Bev Hills and Santa Monica.

We were within 5 mins walking distance of Sunset Strip which was cool.

I liked LA but it's huge. It's something like 84 cities clogged together.

LA county and Orange County are nice but there's crap in between.

Downtown is a dump. Parts of Long Beach are nice near the sea.

I'd advise you to rent a van and go to Vegas for a few days.

It's class. 35 degrees at 5 in the morning though!!!

I lost $600 in one night though, so be careful.

I was 450 up on the craps table and within an hour down 600.
    Crazy but class

a few of my friends went to San Diego last summer and loved it. they spent alot of time in Mexico aswell. one thing though is that it took some of them over three or four weeks to find jobs, so be prepared just in case! they had the time of their lives all the same!!

It'll only take you 2 hours to get from San Diego to LA. If you like a laid back[boring is what I thought] atmosphere then San Diego is your place.
