ATA Codex change

    Hi,

I've always had some echo on my blueface calls but its got a bit worse in the last month. (happy with the service overall though).
I route through London (13 hops) but have a ping of 70-110ms.

Recently I tried Smart076 - which I route to in only 6 hops and a ping of 40-60ms so I expected a better service.
But the call receivers complain of a "crackily" line.

I was wondering if changing my ATA codex would make any difference.
I think mine (SPA2100) defaults to 711U, but theres an option checked so that its not restricted to that codex?

    Anyone have any codex suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any help on the matter.

I changed to the G729 Codec. I thought it sounded worse but the only person I called said the echo was gone. It was more crackly than the G711 I thought.

If you try g729a, that should reduce the bandwidth needed to around 30 k or so as opposed to the higher g711 you were using.

I'd say Blueface would support it. Not sure about Smart though. Never used them. Any good ??

I had the problem of echo before and the lads in blueface told me to change my fxs gain on my device (PAP2 at the time), this reduced most of the feedback, not all though. :) As far as i've read, the PAP2s and the Sipuras range are near identical so if you go to the regional settings its in there somewhere at the bottom and if you change the settings in the fxs input / output gain . I can't remember which way you go though. if you take away or add digits. I think you add. So if its -2 increase it to -1 and see how it goes.

Again i'm doing it from memory but i hope it helped a little :D

Thanks for the help, I'll contact Blueface. I'd much prefer to stick with them as I ported my geographic number over.
