    Ok,

I have a PC. And a Laptop. Soon i'll have another PC.

I was in PC world looking at solutions for connecting 2 PC's together whenever i want.

My main PC is on NTL Broadband 3MB. I have no router.
What do i need to get a network going for internet connection sharing?

I looked at wireless things, routers, hubs, wires, cables, and loads of other stuff... i might as well have been looking into a bush.

    Thanks

Get a 4 port wireless router. That will let you connect up your computers by cable and your laptop by wireless.

*Edit* Linksys WRT are pretty good. I use one myself.

    Is that all i need?

That should be all you need, but....

I'm not sure if you need a specific cable [NTL] router. Others here can advise.
Also, some routers only provide one network cable. You might have to buy a few more yourself. They are not expensive and can be purchased from most computer store. Ask for CAT5, CAT5e or as a last resort CAT6

Ok cool. In PC world those Cables are 15 quid a pop... Robbers.

Now is there a way to set up a 50/50 connection sharing thing? I don't want to lose 80% bandwidth to my music crazy girlfriend haha

    :)

There are many ways to do that. Easiest and best way is to configure your router for QOS [quality of service]. However, the most difficult is finding a descent router that HAS QOS.

If you have access to you g/f's computer you can set her proggy to only use a certain amount of bandwidth but she can always change that so it's not ideal.

    Dlink DGL-4300 108Mbps Wireless Gaming Router (NW-059-DL)

QoS router, has gotten good reviews. Pricey though.
