And he has an idea of putting on a boards open mic night. Much like the mother whose children have fled the nest, I feel barren at the moment as I don't have any gigs to organise in the near future.
I'm not just looking for singer/songwriter/music types (I do need some), but I'm looking for acts of all styles like comedians/magicians/actors etc.. You'll get 10 minutes up to impress your fellow boardsies so...

I need a venue. And I'm opening this up to the floor. There's some problems that I wouldn't usually have with choosing a venue. So here's the criteria:

Ideally it would have a stage :P

Not too big, I'm thinking a max of 100 people

cheap/free to rent so we charge nearly nothing in or alternatively nothing:)

An easy access smoking area so us smokers don't wreck our lungs runnig up and down stairs

Available for private hire on a weekend night as most of you seem to be office types

    So whats your ideas?

    Great idea.
I'm up for playing a few tunes :)
How about Slatterys in Rathmines, Papa?

Would they be cool about the whole weekend thing?

We had a few entries for the boards.ie film festival. But not enough entries to justify the festival itself so it was postponed.

But perhaps some short films made by boards.ie members could be shown on the night?

I can supply the video projection equipment.

That could be very cool. I'll check out this slatterys place and get back to you.

They might on a friday night.
I dont think they have a residency at the moment, band-wise so it might be free.
