Mac Keyboards...

Ok, so I was in my friend's place on Saturday messing around with her new Powerbook. One thing that really struck me was how nice the keyboard was, and that was even on a laptop!

So, my question is: Does anyone know where to get / if it's possible to get Mac style keyboards for a PC? Perhaps with an adaptor of some kind?

I'm aware that there WON'T be a windows key, there WILL be a Mac fucntion key, etc., but is there any other caveats? Of course, failing all that, can someone recommend a nice, cheap keyboard?

I use PC's quite a lot and I'm a touch typist, so the fact that this keyboard stood out to me means something! :)

You can get them in those 3G stores. I'd imagine most authorised mac dealers should have them aswel. I have a feeling that they are pc compliant.

About the only other caveat is that Mac keyboards pretty much always have American layout...

Definitely physically compliant (USB) but as for if it'll actually work I'm not sure, would imagine that that it would though.

Thanks for the advice, guys. Glad I'm not being shunned, too ;)

rainbow Kirby, that's a good point, but I'd imagine that with Windows settings I could change the layout to UK as oppose to US? I know the actual keys themselves would read different, but isn't the main change that that " and the @ are swapped around?

Ah for gods sake lol, for years I've had this problem where my @ key does the " and vice versa on all my computers, hadn't a clue why it was happening....guess that's why!!

    :D

You can fix it in Control Panel. It's to do with either Keyboard Layout or Language / Region settings... Can't remember specifically what now, and I'm eating a mandarin so I can't check.

    Mmmmm...

Yeah you can fix it that way, OP is a touch typist so I suppose it would work, pretty frustrating for hunt and peck tho.

There's a few other differences with American keyboards too - notably their weird horizontal rectangular return key with backslash above it rather than down to the left beside Z.
I had one (american pc keyboard, not a mac one) before and got incredibly pissed off with it, and eventually replaced it with a €15 uk/ireland one from Argos.

The return keys aren't all horizontal are they? I'd assume they're like UKI keyboards that can come either way?
