Well, given that its not publicly available, and you don't type like an MVP, I'm guessing this is going to be closed pretty soon.

Ah well, 'tis well for some, though I'm sure there's some Microsoft employees copying the odd DVD here and there.

They have made a recent beta release available to various microsoft online communities. I entered for it myself but wasn't lucky.

He probably got a DVD with an iso file on it?

Check the "installation woes" section in the forum at www.winvistasecrets.com to see if anyone else has had this problem.

You'll be waiting MANY months before you can actually buy it.

And when it comes out it'll probably be crappier than the Beta. Though everyone seems to like the Beta.

Getting the ISO image from a dvd isnt that unusual. In work here i have a dual layer dvd with iso's of 98/2000/200 server/xp home/xp pro/2003 server to name a few. Actually i think we got the disc you are talking about.

Finally sat down and sorted out the problem, simple as it was, the ISO was on a data disk, so i used nero to burn the iso.
Installation was a doddle, only a few steps eg, choose HD Partition, enter licence key and thats it, went to work and when i came home Vista was installed without any problems, only sound card was not recoginised, but thats not the end of the world.

I only have spent an hour using it, but i`ve found the only real difference is a few extra features, and a new front end, found it to be very LINUX like.

I will post more info when time permits.
