My 91 micra is making banging/knocking sound which seems to be coming from the front passenger side of the car. It only does this when there is someone sitting in the passenger sit and when going over bumps, once on smooth surface no seems fine, sounds worse at lower speeds as well.
Could this be worn shocks and if so any ideas how much for a new set

Worn shocks, shock mounts, suspension mounts and the rubber bushings for retaining the anti-roll bar, if you have such.

yeah id say its the shocks, roughly around 80E for 1 id imagine but its advised to buy in pairs.

Wishbone bushings. A tell-tale sign is movement in the wheel by hand/foot when the car is stopped. Worn shocks would not make a clunk noise unless the axle was hit hard and severely damaged the shock(s) in question, which would lead to other possible faults e.g. swing arm bearings, track rods, among others.

For most cars, there are 2 wishbone bushings each side at the front, and 1 (non-wishbone) bushing each side at the back - 6 in all, but they are not all the same either - its 4 and 2 (2 and 1 each side).

You won't know which one until the wheel has been removed with the car jacked up, and having a good inspection. they don't cost alot, and its about 2-3 hours labour for a set to be replaced.

    Seanie.
