This is old and I did do a search to see if it was posted before. But it's quite interesting. Eircom haven't just got it in for smart..

    I love smart's claim

'The advertisers further stated that they were rolling out their service nationally using a method called ‘local loop unbundling’ and that this will be rolled out throughout 2005 across the country. They stated that there is no claim or implication in the advertisement that a certain number of customers could or will be connected during 2005. They estimate however that at present they can address over 100,000 customers and that by year-end that number will have exceeded one million addressable customers. Based on their market research and the reaction to date from customers they were confident that they can connect over 100,000 customers in 2005'

Which is absoulute bull****. How many customers have they got using broadband? 5,000?

    Also:

'They added, however, that they would be concerned by any advertising which raised false expectations in relation to the availability of the service in 2005.'

    Smart - False expectations - Never ;)
