I went down to the club to see Paddy. He's looking a little frail but then he's been through a lot. He's certainly the same old Paddy though! He got out today and was straight in to play this evening! He said he wanted a game before they decided to drag him back in.

He has to return to see a specialist on Monday and he may have to go back in again. Fingers crossed he wont. I hope when I'm 70+ I'm half as on the ball as he is.

Well went into the Fitzwilliam Club on Saturday and absolutely delighted to see Paddy Hicks. He had the walkman on and was whistling away. Did look a bit frail but j*esus did he get cards. I think he should be renamed Paddy "the Dyson Hicks" cause he just hoovers up all the chips on the table. Unfortunately they had to move the final table upstairs, but played it on the balcony so Paddy didn't have to do the whole flight of stairs. Not sure how he did because my interest in the game finished long long long before the final table. Im off skiing next week (throwing myself down the mountain), so after the cast comes off I am going to get back playing some serious cards. Great report from the Drogheda game and hopefully i will make the March Tournament.

whoever was organising this should have made sure Paddy didnt have to climb the stairs. 8 weeks in hospital for a leg injury which would put any of us out of action and he's climbing stairs. that really pisses me off.

    its not brain surgery.

    edit:

i was mistakenly informed here and have issued an apology below.

It certainly isn't, and I agree it isn't good to have Paddy walking up the stairs, but tournament will always be a lesser priority than cash games, so will be shoved upstairs, as there are limited tables down stairs. The same was done with Ettie when she was playing, keep it downstairs as long as possible.

I have to issue an apology here. I was talking to Paddy and it turns out that he was downstairs for the duration of the game on Saturday.

Denise always takes care of him and did so this time time too.

    so, i'm sorry.

yes good news for the next few weeks. if he can maintain a positive frame of mind he can recover.

if he decides to climb the stairs for those stupid freerolls theres nothing anyone can do about it.

I'm setting him up with a ppp account today so he can play in the satellites for the Irish Open so watch out! :D

He will be ok for the fitz league final on Thursday evening then. Looking forward to that game. Prospect of free money always good.

..... Denise waited until the very last minute before putting the tournament on the Balcony. Paddy had no problem going to the Balcony and handled the stairs very well. She was concerned bout Paddy because she knew his leg was quite bad. Did anyone hear how he did in the Tournament???
