Which is the best antivirus and anti-syware package for companies? I've heard that Mc Afee and Norton are among the best on the market. Would anyone be able to give me a quick summary of the advs. and disadvs. of each?

Are there are freeware solutions that a company can legally use?

Thanks for the link to that article. Funnily enough, little/not any mention was made of Norton Anti Virus or Mc Afee. I've never hear of Sophos but will check it out. Is it also possible to get an anti-spam integrated with an antivirus and antispyware program?

Yes there are free SpyWare solutions, microsoft antispyware ( till july ) spybot etc. for email SpamBayes is good at removing crud - defense in depth. You can't have too many security apps running provided they arent resource hogs (norton et al) and that none intefer with the others (only one AV for example)

A long time ago the big security companies tried suites or products that did everything but they never were as well regarded as pick and mix because they usually contained one below average component or were simply over priced for what they did.
spyware blaster is free, but only if the updates are done AT the machine, no automated or remote admin

Other options would, if possible, to have a long hard look at things like opera or firefox instead of IE at open office instead of msoffice. If you use exchange or most other email servers it will need it's own AV solution that can act on the queues and good filtering.
If you use Outlook Express then consider string and cans :v: eh Thunderbird etc.
