I thought it was enjoyable, nice Starbuck episode. I can't wait to see what these char dev episodes are leading up to.

Ah yes, back on form. Unless they go back for the Caprica survivors then a lot of this will be just filler.

Cat was a bit annoying, yet another Latino with an attitude cliche.

Nice to see starbuck getting her knickers off... i quite enjoyed that scene and will enjoy it again tonight just before bed time ;)

erm, thought this was just ok, no plot advancement at all, felt out of place from the rest of the series.

I'll go for an OK on this one, but it's a high-OK (just a little less than great I think).

Definitely better than the last two episodes; I only wish they'd get rid of the "X Hours Eariler" gimmick they seem stuck on... don't see the point and it doesn't suit the show imo. The on-tonights-episode montage at the start is annoying enough (and I always skip past it).

We already knew she'd lost her edge, we knew why. We didn't need an entire episode to highlight this. It was the weakest episode of the 2 series in my opinion.

Ok episode but Im another vote for lose the x hours earlier crap as its being used far to often in BSG and lowers the quality of the show.

I enjoyed it right up untill the Deerhunter theme ..wtf.. destroy an ep by having your viewers think of a movie, hopefully thier music guy was just hung over and couldnt fin this ep cos it sucks!! stick to your own music its bloody great.

I enjoyed this episode anyway, even though Kat was damn annoying and even Starbuck was becoming a bit of a whinging bitch. No mention of the Nuke or what's going on with the rebels though.

I personally thought it was quite a fine episode and voted as such.
Quite incredible character development. Up until now I always thought of Therese as a dumb, blonde (female) version of starbuck. Now she's actually starting to show some proper feelings and I find I'm enjoying the character more because of it.

    Excellent, imho.

thought it was very good. cool to see starbuck have some actual feelings, other then her usual bravado. also, i love the idea of an enemy ace. reminds me of that excellent episode of space, above and beyond with the ace chig. still pissed i missed the 2nd part of that

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 4,569 Mod ✭✭✭✭Ivan

Yeah me too. I got all 24 or 22, whatever, episodes of Space: Above & Beyond at a lan. It was only months later when I was sitting down to watch them with a friend that he pointed out I was missing one of them. Episode 16 I believe.

I had never seen it and he told me that apparently the 'tank' commander guy, comes out of retirement to hunt down the 'Baron Von Chiggy' or Red Ace or whatever ;)

Was supposed to be a great episode, shame really :/

But anyway, on topic, I thought the whole idea of an Ace Raider made perfect sense, especially when we hear about the fact that the Raiders reincarnate as well as the human cylons. In fact, I'd go as far as to say this is only one of the repercussions of destroying the ressurection ship.

i thought it was a good episode, the action with scar was great, starbuck was getting on my nerves a bit though

Not a great ep. Too formuaic IMHO like a WWII B-movie or (God help us  ) the aforementioned Space above and beyonzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Anyone old enough to remember "Combat"?
I thought the best bit was where SeattlesBestCoffee toasted and named all the dead pilots whose names she earlier claimed she could not even remember.
I hope they kick it up a gear or two for next week.

They should be banned from tv and everything else imho. I'm getting sick of this 2 dimensional "hard-ass woman" rubbish! Starbuck was a bit like that at the start but at least they developed her character and didn't just leave her in moron mode. Wanted to scrawl Cat/Kat's eyes out!

This is an interesting episode. I'm not sure if its good or bad, but its definately interesting. BSG is good at handling jumping right in the middle of situations at the beginning of an episode - 33 won a host of awards for a reason.

One scene that really hit me in the gut was the scene at the start where Kara is drunk, leaps onto the table and then falls over it. I'm the son of an alcoholic and for all that dad was never like that, just watching someone sink into the bottle is always painful for me. So big kudos to the producers for effectively pushing all my emotional buttons.

Kat was annoying, I have to say. She's pretty, but eh, where the hell is the military discipline on the ship? Oh grand, RDM has said time and again that its not supposed to be "real," in the interests of entertainment, but I think that they were way off on Kat. Personally I'd put her over my knee and spank her until...eh, wrong board lads, sorry.

The dog fighting and camera work were fantastic, I can't fault it. Lee is as bloody annoying as ever.

    That's that.

The insights into the Cylons were fascinating, about how Raiders are reborn too, about the Ressurection Ship. Although Sharon has already said in Pegasus that she didn't know what the ship was. Lies on her part. What else has she lied about? And of course the implications there are that the Cylons have known exactly where the fleet has been since day 1. Now this is another thing I enjoy about the show: They seem to take a page from the Half-Life 2 book of storytelling by letter the viewer know about something without doing something so crude as coming out and saying it. And this was really true in the episode gone.

Unless the whole "reborn Raider" is just a McGuffin never to be used again. I hope not! It shows that there are factions within the Cylons. One faction wants everyone dead, one only wants the Galactica destroyed and another is content to let them live as they fufill prophecies, only poking and proding as needed.

So not good and not bad, but definately above "meh."

Yea, but this episode wasn't the same. This one jumped right into the middle of the episode, and then went back to explain itself very slowly. I was loosing interest while wainting for the action that I knew was coming... as they've done for the past three weeks running. Getting sick of it to be honest.
where the hell is the military discipline on the ship?
Thought the same thing. People have been kicked off a mission (and even demoted I think) for much, much less in the past. In comparison it made Starbuck look like a soft touch. She shouldn't have taken any of that **** in front of the entire squad. Whatever about realism, just very inconsistent I thought (with previous episodes).
Although Sharon has already said in Pegasus that she didn't know what the ship was. Lies on her part.

    Or just more inconsistencies?

I hope not too, but these last three episodes have - as a whole - been a very low point for BSG in my mind. Three (potentially) throw away episodes. I hope I'm wrong on that.

Sharon said that she didn't know what the Resurrection Ship was because she was getting slapped around by Thorne.

Besides that, it took a certain special motivation for the Number 6 Cylon to tell them about it, being that she wanted to die. Considering Sharon is still being treated like a prisoner (and perhaps rightly so) she has to realise that potentially (and probably eventually in any case) they will kill her. With that in mind, why would she want to remove her only method of ressurecting.

Number 6 on the other hand actually wanted to die, completely and totally and so was motivated enough to give up this vital information.

So we can assume, reasonably so, that Sharon just wasnt ready to give up such a sensitive nugget of information. However now that the cat is out of the bag what advantage is there to holding on to what she knows?

In order for it to be an inconsistency we have to assume she was telling the truth about not knowing and from what we've seen of cylons, I think that would be a gross error.

What really bothered me about this episode was that quite a bit of it made no sense. Why was Starbuck even there? As CAG of the Pegasus she should have been with the Pegasus protecting the fleet. She shouldn't have been on Galactica at all. ep 16
It also irritated me in Sacrafice that both CAG's would be on r'n'r at the same time

I can't stand Kat, she is even more irritating than Starbuck was in early episodes and I couldn't stand her then. She is a total cliche, and maybe not the best actor.

I also hate way it was the fourth episode in a row to rely on the 32 hours earlier cr*p. It was ok the first & second time but by this episode it nearly made me want to switch off.

However I liked the scenes with Lee and Starbuck. I do think the actors can have good chemistry together and this episode was an example of that.

But overall the episode continually relied on hitting the viewer around the head with the story. It would have been better if Starbuck's falling apart was more subtly shown.
