I know this has probably been asked on numerous occasions, but I'm just wondering is there any possiblity that if you emailed CSD and asked them to unblock a port (assuming it didn't allow you access to illegal activities!) would they even consider it?

They done it for me yesterday for a VOIP program, I asked them when I paid for my 2nd semster internet connection. They done it within a day as well. Was surprised to be honest but fair play to them.

As long as it doesnt contravene HEAnet rules and isn't complelely unnecessary then I don't think there should be much of a problem, just throw them a mail and be as pleasant as you can. :)

Done. I made sure to do what Digiman did and email them right after I paid for 2nd semester internet. Fingers crossed!

I actually asked them in person when I paid the money!! because I did send an email about the exact same thing about 2 weeks before that and they never got back to me.
