A small bit suspicious

I won an auction on Ebay yesterday for a digital camcorder, everything has been fine and I received and invoice for it yesterday evening. I have a couple of suspicions though and was wondering if I should go ahead with it. First one is that the bidding seemed to be increased by someone with 0 feedback until I won it ( Got the camcorder for 350, to buy in shop is around 600 so it is still a good deal). The second is the seller has private feedback and a rating of 87%, does this sound suspicious to anyone?? I am paying through paypal so it should be ok??

If you have suspicions then I wouldn't go through with the sale, simple as that.

As a general rule - check the seller's feedback and be wary of seller's who have lots of positive feedback for cheap items (sub $10) and then start to sell expensive electrical items.

The problem is that they have private feedback so I can only see the % and none of the comments...

87% is very bad feedback tbh.
    Private feedback is a no-no.
I never buy from anybody with sub 99% feedback, as a rule of thumb. Unless its for a rare or hard to find item.

However, you have allready bid on and won the item... so if you dont pay, the seller will open a non-paying bidder dispute.

I certainly would not have bid on this one and I certianly would not be sending any money just yet. What is the auction number?

Agree with all of the above. Sounds dodgy. Private feedback is so open to abuse - he sells fictional items to his mates, pays the nominal fees and his feedback increases. You don't know how many fake positives are in the 87% but can be sure all the negatives are for real.

I would not send this guy any money. If you want to avoid the non-paying bidder dispute (and assuming the seller is in the UK) you could offer to Escrow route. You'd probably have to pay the escrow charges yourself but a reputable seller should not have a problem with going the escrow route.

Failing that just take the non-paying bidder dispute and let this be a lesson.

Only if the seller is at a certain level with PayPal

You could be looking at standard ebay which is only €175
