    Hi All

Just wondering is it normal to insulate internal stud partition walls or should the walls that are external just be insulted? Is there anything in build regs about this. Thanks!

I would suggest their is no reason to insulate an internal partition in most normal circumstances other than for sound proofing. In the case of sound proofing I would suggest double slabbing as a FIRST step.

As Martin said, standard regs don't specify insulation in internal partitions. Standards for aiding soundproofing in internal studs do specify double slabbed plaster board with insulation between the studs.
Alternatively, if it is soundproofing your are after you could consider a denser wall board like Fermacell. You can hang 50kgs direct off the board without going into any stud behind it.

There are varying opinions in the industry as to whether insulated internal partitions aid overall insulation figures for the building. There are other factors to consider too.
