Car lifts

In the process of moving house finally found a house with a wide enough side entrance to build a 20/25sq meter garage.:)
So was wondering if anyone knows where I can find/price a one sided fixed car lift for it new or second hand (Like a forklift type idea) preferably in Ireland but north of England could do.:)

Plenty of car lifts for sale on Ebay all the time. I can't say I would favour the typr of lift you mention.

I don't know where to get them, but would you not prefer one which lifts from the chassis jacking points instead of the heels, since then work can be done with the wheels off at a decent height

Frost automotive in the UK do various kinds of lifts, tilters etc.. Not sure if they are any good or good value. Here's one

You see them in www.buyandsell.net from time to time (nice 'n local).
Seem to range from €600 upwards for a 2nd hand 2-poster. If only I had the space :rolleyes:

I've no help for you but I'm in the same position. Need to get one in about 6 months time !

Those 2 poster are great but they generally use 3.0kW Motors, you need 3~ for that. The highest you can go is 2.2kW 1~ with doemstic 'leccy. That may do the job but if you boought the lift then decided to change the motor you could spend another €250 or €400 depending on whether it needs a safety brake aswell !

Also you could discover, depending on the base speed of the motor, that the 2.2kW is a smaller frame size and wont match the existing locating holes and shaft !

Its mostly for parking so the important bit is that its 1 post as the other post would take up too much floor space.
