I have had Esat broadband for a few years now and only last month moved my phone to them to save on costs.
I see they have launched a new set of packages and I rang to see about changing to the new lowest priced one. I'm not on contract but they won't lower me !

I have to disconnect and then reconnect and they made clear that they can disconnect me quickly but it make take weeks to reconnect me! Sounds to me like a scam.

    Anyone else experience this?

    Redman
(also their 1904 is crap, this morning they just weren't taking calls at all. And last night I got cut off holding after 18mins as the time passed 7:30 without speaking to anyone!!

I was informed it would cost me €30 to downgrade. Their site states free installation if you've your own modem. So it might be best to cancel and re-connect. Doesn't really make sense.

Redman, you definitely don't have to disconnect and reconnect, it is pure BS. They can downgrade you with little or no disruption, but it will cost about €30. Call them again and tell them that and if they don't agree then ask to speak to a supervisor.

BTW The €30 charge isn't from BT. BT resell Eircom Wholesale bitstream products. Eircom Wholesale charge BT (and all bitsream companies) the €30 for downgrades, there is no charge for upgrades, so BT is only passing this charge on.

thanks bk, shame there is a €30 downgrade fee but it'll pay for itself after 3 months though
