I'm wanting to register three seperate .com domains and get web hosting in the package. There are so many sites out there promising great deals and some of the figures look very tempting indeed but I just wanted to know if they're kosher?
Has anyone got any recommendations for somewhere cheap but reliable?
    Ta very much! :D

Depends on the type of hosting you're after.

Personally, I use Coldfusion, so I need a host that does that.
Just make sure they your host can do what you need.

I used hosting365 in the past - can't fault them really.

reg your domains at www.godaddy.com and get the hosting from www.digital-crocus.com.

Actually, how much space are you after? I might be able to sort you out.

€30 for registering a .ie at blacknight ! How does one go about getting Blacknight or whoever to be the registrant ? I dont want my name and address to appear on a whois ? Any ideas ?

Also I am part of an association which has a website that only changes a page or 2 per year yet hosting costs €149 with UTV - how would one go about changing host without losing info - is it seemless and what is the cheapest ? Dont even use email addresses !

fairly seamless; just backup a copy of the website onto your computer, signup to the new host, upload your files and change the dns details on your domain. The domain will change over to the new server within 48 hours.

    This is a special offer - it's €65 + VAT normally - €78-odd each year.
Just bear that cost in mind for a .ie domain.

    Thanks for all the advice!

I've been looking at what's on offer and I'm now totally confused. I'm new to setting up websites so I'm still researching the technicalities but what I have planned is reasonably ambitious. For the biggest of the three I'll need about 20 pages and around six or seven email addresses. I'm also concerned about security though I won't be selling online.

I suppose what I'm asking is what should I be looking for in a hosting package? I want to create a slick web presence and not to limit myself at this stage coz I'll learn more as I go along.

Sorry if this sounds vague and dumb!

    Cheers,
    Sesheta
