Played in the SE, my Aces cracked to send me home for the second time this week :( this time I at least got all the money in pre-flop and his J10 soooooted runner-runnered a flush. To be fair, it was his favourite hand, he couldn't be faulted for calling a short stack's all-in with it :) Olly is there and was going strong when I left, 8 tables tonight, the SE €50 double chance is becoming a nice sized tournament nowadays. G'night folks!

Sorry Paul I got done by the same guy in the end.

Set against his straight draw I never stood a chance :D That SE game is serious value for decent players though. Boys literally donating chips and cash. Hilarious really.

P.S. I was playing out of my skin tonight but I'll get them again!

Grrr... mumble mumble... blind levels... mutter... grumble...
    25-50
    50-100
    100-200
reduce level lengths after the break?...
    150-300
    200-400 grumble...

    Currently they are

    25-50 for 30 minutes
    50-100 for 30 minutes
    75-150 for 30 minutes
    BREAK
    100-200 for 20 minutes
    200-400 for 20 minutes
    300-600 for 20 minutes

I think everyone who's played this game would agree that if they could start at 8.30 instead of 9.00 and stick in a 150-300 level and keep the levels at 30 minutes after the break or 25 minutes as a compromise it would be to the benfit of the game play and wouldn't hurt the SE much if anything.

In fact, one of the reasons the game is playable at all is that one of the lesser experienced players often donates his chips to you during the first one or two blind levels, and you have a cushion when the blinds shoot up! What Olly said about the chip donations is spot on, is there ever is a time to slow play TPTK or an overpair, it is during the first three blind levels on Thursday at the SE.

Sorry. Yes, I knew something wasn't right as I typed it.

I'm probably just bitter that I lost a few chips after the break and twenty minutes later felt short stacked and hadn't the patience to handle it well.

it is a bit harsh though.

    .
    bump

Start to be sharper than 30 minutes late. Also cut down on break time. Do we really need to 20 minutes to refresh ourselves.

And people still call you with JT sooted despite the old classic line "Ah fúck it I'm all in" !! :D I have to say I never laughed so much at some of the bad play as last night. You do have to watch out for friends on the same table as some serious soft play goes on if two guys know each other at the same table which is a shame but something that happens considering these players pub tournie background. It's normally not very sophisticated more like a guy pulling his punches if he has a strong made hand and his mate is the only non-believer then they check it down.

I agree 100% Brian about the sharp rise in blind levels forcing a shake out half an hour after the break but if you can get through that sorting out period there isn't another steep jump until the final table. Unlike the Fitz though they won't freeze blinds too often on the final table, which is a pity.

P.S. Some people don't know to ask for the blind levels to be frozen in the Fitz at the final table to leave some play in the game as they are generally away from the action upstairs but to be fair to the TDs in the Fitz if a reasonable request is made and all players are satisfied with this then I've never seen such a request refused.

The 20 minute break is to encourage gambling rounders nothing to do with refreshing yourself. It's one of those things that will never change as its in the clubs interest. Starting at 8.30 and getting people in earlier should be in their bloody interest too though!!

I agree with the general consensus here. i've played 3 tourneys in the SE now and i think the 150/300 level should be added in. I made the last 2 tables twice and the final table once and all 3 times I've felt like it's beome a crapshoot with the shortened levels.

    played in this last night.
was doing well after a double up w my AA.
    the hand went really funny.
i didnt hadnt played a hand a hand at all for the first 20 min.
then i get AA (both red)one from the cutoff.
    UTG limps and i make it 250.blinds 50/100 .
a loose guy with big stack calls after me and then UTG goes all in for 800.
i just flat call knowing the loose dude will also call and he does.
    flop comes Kh Qh 5h.
i bet 600 and the dude folds.UTG turns over JJ and i win the hand with the 2h on the river.
then i get moved to another table and dont play a hand for another 30 min or so.
then i get QT on the button and raise to 600(blinds 100/200) .
this dude on the BB goes all in for 1200 and its another 600 to me.
i have no option to call and he turns over 78o.
he cathes a 8 on the flop but a Q shows on the turn for me to win and knock him out.
no body at the table liked this dude and every one tanked me for knocking him out.
he was a loud mouth for what i heard.
had about 6K just before the break.
after the break i called a short stacks al in for 800 with my AT and i caught an A to win the hand.
chip leader at this table seemed very aggro but i didnt really have a good read on him.
i got involved with him on a hand when he open raised from UTG and made it 800(blinds 100/200) and i was on the button with TT .i was going to reriase but then again i bottled it and decide to make the worse play possible here and just call.
flop comes rainbow J high and he check.
i bet the pot and he reraises me all in.
    i fold.
two hands later same dude limps from EP and i call from LP with KQo and the blinds stay.
    flop is Kh 5h 3d .
chips leader bets 500 and i make it 1500.
blinds fold and the aggro dude thinks for a while and then puts me all in for another 1600.
i call instantly and he turns QJh.
turn is the Th and that was the end of me.
