Posted here as considered a classic (i think)

    Make: Fiat

    Model: X19 Bertone 1500cc

    Year 1983 Irish Reg

New Engine Needed otherwise beautiful car

    Colour: Magenta

Condition inside and outside. excellent outside (professionally resprayed about 12 months ago) excellent inside also

    Price e1000 ono

    Location(s). Dundalk, Co.Louth

very very similar to this one almost exactly the same (except this one has an engine :)Fiat%20X19%20red.jpg

This is for my dad so:
Ok as stated above needs a new engine there is currently no compression in two cylinders. Could possibly be repaired but expensive to do so might be cheaper to replace the engine. As far as we know the engine is the same as a fiat ritmo, strada or 123. Bertone model with cream leather seats. New brakes a while ago also....a lot of money spent to it into tiptop condition
think thats all the information i have if you need more details or are interested pm me or reply for contact details

as i said the car itself is sound and well worth saving and my dad dosent have the time or space to repair it or get it repaired

How come you can't post pics of the actual car. The one shown is obviously show condition. Are you saying that yours is in the same condition as this one?

i can post pics of the actual car just have to get to my own PC and will post them if there is interest the car is in very good condition and you will see that when i post the pictures only reason i didnt post pic of the actual car is cos its not outside the house at the moment cos it still needs to be collected from the garage who told us about the cyliner problem

just gimme a while and i'll post them when i get home....

    Sounds like a nice car.
Though I have to say I'm only interested in seeing the pics.

One FIAT is enough for me... ;)

I want to buy this - pm sent with phone number. I have an '81 with a good engine and rusty body and this is my ideal opportunity. I was going to buy this but an Irish reg one would be a better choice.

I drove to Dundalk but didn't buy the car for sale in this thread and I don't think I'll buy the eBay one either - the VRT b*stards want €2,000 to clear an '89 X1/9 regardless of condition.

Corktina, if you are passing the Urlingford one and get a phone number I'll buy you a pint!

Not quite so 'similar' to the car in the pic then?

    The price seemed right.

    ...its the same colour.

neacy69's dad is a sound bloke with a very typical x1/9. The duty is paid which makes it worth €600 more than an imported UK one in the same condition but it is deteriorating in the same places as the one I have. I had hoped to have a straightforward engine swap and be driving it within three days but it needs immediate attention to several areas or it will be beyond recovery in a year or so.

Call me a scaredy-cat, I just know what is involved and have seen enough of these to know what it needs. If you are looking for an easy resto project, or are willing to take a gamble on the engine just needing a gasket then it will give good service for a while, but the rust will catch up very quickly if it is left outside.

It has new discs and pads all 'round, the tyres are in great nick and it is complete. It is nothing like the pic above, but I saw pics on email before going for a look so it wasn't completely mis-represented - I had an idea what to expect.

    P.S Anyone else with a rust free, blown-engined X1/9?
