I know its been done before but any recent discoveries for reasonably priced clean and decent places to stay.
Anyone stayed recently that can supply up to date report.
Prices at present are at their highest ever as New York tourism is booming.

I always find that www.tripadvisor.com has some very accurate info. and you can find very honest reviews of up to the minute stays there.
    Have a great trip.

I was looking for NY hotels recently & this place is quite reasonably priced & got good reviews on tripadvisor:
    http://www.edisonhotelnyc.com
    Great location too.

Unfortunately it wasn't available for the first 3 nights of our stay
(in May! It has 800 rooms and its booked out already! Must be good ;) )

So we ended up booking here:

    http://www.wolcott.com

tripadvisor reviews aren't as good but we went with it anyway. There are 10 of us and we were looking for somewhere cheap in midtown and ran out of options very quickly.

i'd check out ebookers.ie or needahotel.com - they sometimes have better rates than on the hotels' sites.

Was over a couple of years ago with a crowd (5 of us). We rented a condo on the Upper East Side for a week. Really nice place, meant you had somewhere you could call your own for a week, cook your own food and stuff

Worked out a decent price. Found it on this website

im looking for a new york hotel also. i found www.1800hotels.com are coming in with the cheapest prices than a lot of the websites i have visited. i rang them instead of using the website and i got a better deal than the website brought up. phone: 1800hotels. im also looking at the idea of an apartment but they seem to be quite pricey too.

    Try www.hotelstanford.com

I found this through a board and looked it up on tripadvisor. It seems to get very good reviews.

I booked it over new years just gone as I wanted to stay in the centre and not have to get tube all the time. I also wanted something reasonable

You will read from the reviews that it is in Korean area. yes this is correct, but korean area is just a street. This is near the top of that street on braodway. Very busy area so could not be safer.

As I said we came out the door and turned right and 20 metres we were on braodway. The Empire state building is behind the hotel, and a 4 minute walk. Macys is across the other side of the road on braodway. About a 3 minute walk.

Times square is about a 15 minut walk, but a nice walk at that up broadway.

Some people also mention the slow lift, but it was fine. Breakfast was basic, but a muffin and a cup of tea will keep you going for a while.

If I was to go back, I would deffo stay here again. I would highly recommend it

I was in NYC for the new years celebrations. We rented an apartment from www.urbanstay.com They are based in Ireland too so twas easy to organise. Wasn't all that cheap but well worth it. Classy apartment in fairness. check them out anyway.
