There seems to be tonnes of people going in the coming weeks.

You cant go wrong in Peurto Del Carmen/Matagarda.
I go to the Irish Rover a lot, brilliant music.

There are a few good restaurants right down by the water in the old town (look for 'varadero' signs) that particularly specialise in fish. These are more "Spanish" than most of the restaurants in the resort, which mostly offer similar fayre. The Lani's group restaurants are mostly fine (about 10 or so spread throughout the resort); Lani's Grill (very near the Fariones hotel by the beach) in particluar is very good. Further into the new town there is a place called 'Tex Mex' (or something similar) which has yummy steaks. One thing though - meat is invariably great where you go, but the vegetables tend to be very poor.
There are loads of Irish bars around, mostly crap. By far the best was Mulligan's in the new town which, as of last summer, had an excellent band playing most nights - White Chocolate I think they were called. Unfortunately it is right at the other end of the resort from the Old Town, but taxis are cheap - unlike their drink! Mulligan's in the Old Town (sister pub) is decent enough but very much an older crowd. Charlies in the Atlantico centre (near Mulligans New Town) is pretty good too. In fact, that Atlantico centre is a good bet - there are about 15-20 pubs/nightclubs there, most offering 2 for 1 before 12 etc. If you're into Latin grooves, get to Club Habana - gets going (very) late though!

    Thanks for that Padraig.
I have been in one of the Lani 's Restaurants before.

It's the one that Manuel brought Bazil Faulty back to Lanzarote to manage.

    Long wait for waiter.

    Longer (much) wait for food.

    Food disgusting.

    "What do u want"

    "What do u expect"

    No point in complaining here.

Lani 's is what i'm hoping to avoid.

I was there in October and was told by an irish girl working there to avoid all places that advertised fish or meat outside their premises as that is what they cooked that evening after being lying in the heat all day. If you want to get a good proper steak, spuds & veg look for the Dutchman. Its just past mulligans and mcdonalds. Its in of the footpath upstairs beside one of the irish pubs (cant think of the name of it). We had a few meals there and they were very cheap and the steak was just perfect! If you want fish and chips look for a place called the "codfather". If you want a good breakfast look for the "Mucky Duck". They also do great meals at a reasonable price - fab garlic kievs! There is also a place beside the Casino that do great cocktails.:D

There are 2 fantastic restaurants just as you enter the old town near the shopping centre beside the Irish Pub.One is French & the other is German.I cant think of the names but they are top class.Maybe someone knows the names.Sorry for being so vague.

There is a restaurant on the oposide side of the road to the irish rover.I was there twice in the last few weeks and they have the best steak i have ever tasted.

I found the food in alnzerote to be excellent. There is also alot of nice places down on the harbour.

Sandyg, if Ken90 wanted the type of fare that you mention then he might as
well stay at home and just go out to eat every day.
