Went to the shop this morning for my usual pack.I was handed a silver box and was handing them back as I thought she just grabbed the wrong ones.

The silver pack opens like a Zippo lighter and has 'special edition' on it with just a small red or gold mark to distinguish the type.

My first time to come across them.

Why don't Marlboro Lights say "Marlboro Lights" on them?

Its illegal to do it now, an EU thing, no cigs are allowed claim to be light

    Bit stupid really.
I doubt with the big "Smoking Kills" written on the pack, many people are gonna think that they're healthy.

Is there someone in the EU that actually thinks this is a good idea?
That would be like preventing manufacturers of strawberry yogurts calling them strawberry yogurts because people might buy them and then become fat.
Why don't we just go all the way and completely eliminate Adjectives from the language? Surely something like an adjective which describes something as different from something else can't be fair. Its against the concept of equality!!!!!!

No it would be people buying "Diet strawberry yogurt" which was normal yogurt.

Is it not true though that light cigarettes contain less niccotine than regular cigarettes?

    Good read
although machines used to test cigarettes drew less tar and nicotine from low-tar brands, real smokers tended not to. They would either smoke more or inhale more deeply to get the same effect.

Marc Fritsch, spokesman for Philip Morris, said: 'We have started production of the new packs already. There never has been such a thing as a safe cigarette. People should not assume that a term light, mild or low [means] they are safer for them.'

Probably an attempt to making smoking look cool again.
They've probably lost alot of smokers lately.

Apart from Whiskeymans comments the dosage you recieve is still far from "light" in the sense that it wouldn't have any negative effects on you.

Perhaps they should call them 'i-smokes'.
