    Hello everyone.

As I pretty much expected, there is some last minute news to pass along. There’s some good and some not so good news but, hopefully, the good outweighs the not so good.

First, I’ll start with the bad news to get it out of the way. We have held onto the 1.2 patch a little longer than we had initially planned. We really felt that it was important to delay the patch and take care of some of the issues that have had the community concerned. This means that it will be released sometime in the next two or three weeks. This, unfortunately, means that the Euro Force Booster Pack will be delayed as well since it relies on the patch. Look for Euro Force to be released in the latter half of February now.

Also, another bit of bad news is that the new feature that allows player to pick up deployed mines with the G key is being held back. In the end, we felt it just wasn’t complete enough for public consumption. We at DICE apologize to all of you who were eagerly awaiting this feature.

I hope that the reasons for the delays are seen as positive by you, the community, and therefore I list these reasons as the good news portion of this update.

    The following issues were addressed:

    - Being able to pass through walls using a spinning tank turret has been fixed. It has also been addressed on all rotating vehicle positions just to be safe.
    - The disappearance of tank projectiles and grenade launcher projectiles during online play has been improved and should occur less frequently
    - The distance for throwing hand grenades, ammo packs, and health packs has been increased.

    And finally…

    - The Red/Blue nametag bug has been addressed

Regarding the last point, what we have done is make the code more secure to try and prevent any cases where this bug may occur. Since the fix has been in place, we have had no reproduction of the bug in testing.

We’re excited about being able to release 1.2 very soon and hope you all are too.

    All the best,
    AJ Marini

Best news I've had in ages and I'd be willing to wait weeks more to get this fixed.

Actually yeah, I did do a little "Yes!" with a fist of victory* when I read that.

ah but since patch 1.03 I've only came across this once so it didn't affect me so for me this means that I have to spend another few weeks putting up with bunnyhoppy noobtoobin dolphin noobs who are unable to play any other way..

The bug usually appears on busy 64-player servers.

I get it about once every 2 times I play (usually on the same server too) and my last 4 server kicks have been due to the bug.

Still no news on important things like being able to chat when servers are paused. Why was that never implemented in the 1st place ?

How biazzare. In my several hundred hours playing (I honestly cant remember) I've only encountered it twice.

This has never happened to me but I have only been playing for 35 hours

what they forgot to mention was that this patch will open about 20 new bugs which'll require another patch which will be released alongside another expansion pack with about 5 new maps and 2 new models that'll cost about €20 and patch the game backwards, requiring you to re-download the new patch and patch the patched patch

This counts as a rant... yes? :)

    yes :p

only because when i installed special forces i got pissed off with all the patch crap. didn't they know they'd have to release a new patch before pressing the discs?

So ehrns the new patch actually out???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,761 ✭✭✭✭Winters

No ... shall probably not be released until the end of the month or so, probably to coincide with the "Booster EA money grabbing Pack".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,997 ✭✭✭jaggeh

its not money grabbing winters, at the end of the day remember they are a company out to make money.... did you know that eurforce and armored combat and another as yet unnamed booster werent going to be released till closer to christmas because they wanted it as another expansion.....

id rather do it this way. those of you unused to micropayments and periodical updates should try playing an mmorpg for a while.

Yeah, and that new patch was included with SF. It was patch 1.1

But someone discovered something after SF went gold that was important enough to deserve a new patch, 1.2, that we had to install after SF.

I'm guessing that EA was just as pissed off as you.

i'm sure my money made them feel a bit better :p

will everyone be getting these new booster packs? it's a fairly reasonable price but for those without credit cards or access to them it means being pushed out of the game (doesn't include me btw)...
