Don't want to sound stupid, but what is an ASA? Also what is the best van to go for when installing? I 've looked at a 99 VW Caddy for €3500 and also a 99 Berlingo (side door) for €4000? Any tips would be appreciated!

    Cheers, Paul

ASA is authorised sky agent, berlingo is good choice to start

Tony, do you know when and where the seminar is in Cork. I may try to blag my way in although I don't have my own ASA number.

PJDAvy, You might find those vans a bit small if you are doing aerial work as well. I drive a Renault Trafic and sometimes wish I had gone for the long wheelbase version as it's crammed with stuff.

Hello Rippy. I would like to go for a VW Transporter but my budget is €4000. If I can find a van like this or similar size, I will probably go for it! Other vans that I have seen include Mercedes Vito, Ford Transit, Peugeot Expert (or the Fiat & Citroen versions) and the Nissan Hi-Ace. I know it would be more beneficial for me to go for one of these vans, but is there a big difference in terms of fuel consumption and servicing?

A Berlingo or something similar {1.8 to 1.9 dl}with a slide door is more than enough to get you from job to job carrying your equipment.

I have an expert 2.0 HDI and I did not spend much more on fuel than the berlingo

Sounds good to me Watty! By the way, do any of you know of a good trade supplier for the Thomas & Betts Snap-n-Seal connectors? The cheapest I can find are based in the US (http://www.shopjavaco.com). Ideally I would like a supplier based in Europe.

Thanks for the link Scaller but they don't supply the Thomas & Betts Snap-n-Seal connectors.

Anyone else know of any supplier in Ireland stocking this line of connectors?

Its just that I have used them a few times before and the quality seems really good. Can you recommend any other brand with such a quality finish that would be easily and cheapily available in Ireland?

A sticky would be more suited! Possibly on the EuroSat Forum as here has a lot of stickies already. Just an idea :)
